I really think the ref did a shit job, but wlad is no different than any boxer in that hey hell do what he can to win...I do find it a bit odd though that so many posters are hating on wlad for holding, yet a certain goldenboy by the name of hatton held just as much in his fight against urango....not saying I liked wlads performance it was shit, he should have had pts deducted way before the tenth, but it was the easiest path to victory. the blame is on the ref wlad did his job the ref didn't. Also think it really hurts wlad not having manny yelling at him between rounds imploring him to knock the guy out. As for the question at hand as far as role models go in regards for Athletes ya can't ask for a better one than wlad.

    Hindsight is truly 20/20.

I have actually re-watched the thing 3 more times and then searched for a clinic dealing in masochism in the yellow pages. Just an ugly ass fight. I even slowed it down to a crawl and then singled out each man.

So now I’m going to have to retract a good portion of my criticism of Wlad and dish it out to Povetkin. He’s as much responsible for that mess as Wlad is. He was trying to come in under the jab bent over and then lifting up the back of his head. Like using his head as a counter if he missed the inside hook. He used his head much like Holyfield in that regard. Much of Wlads grabbing was a direct result of that tactic and the fact that he can’t fight off the back foot.

I’ve taken some cheap shots at Wlad by comparing him to the likes of Willard and Carnera and that’s also unfair. He would destroy both of those clowns. Frustration I suppose over a lame division that once was a historical main stay. Lamenting I guess past eras that I grew up on.
