Then please explain , what is it about these guys that u deem so boring? Ward outclasses guys with excellent boxing skills. Bradley isn't great but good in all areas to the point where his well balanced skill set can get the job done. Hopkins pretty much the same as ward just a little dirtier and trickier. Paulie can't punch but has enough skill to give guys problems. Clinchko clinches. So tell me. Who do u think is exciting and tell me why these guys are boring .
Every single fighter today can have at least one fight pointed to as boring. Some may refine a backfoot prevention style, a clinch counter etc...but they all have 'asterisks'. Ironic is the last part of that word. One round blow out-knockouts can even be boring. I can watch a guy sharpshoot and bust up a guy, a competitive-class opponent over 12 and be entertained. Oh and Cory is at top of the list of boring while we're at it.
I like boxer-punchers and pure boxers. The fighters that excite me are guys like Ray Leonard, Finito Lopez, McCallum, Curry, Toney, Marquez and Jorge Linares.
The fights that put me on the edge of my seat are leonard-hearns 1, toney-McCallum 1, barrera-morales 1, marquez-barrera...
I love fighters who are well rounded and skilled enough to put on a sustained boxing action for minutes at a time without resorting to clinching on the inside and getting on the bike.
In all the favorite fights that I mentioned, they all have one thing in common and its that all of them had a spontaneous boxing action from the midrange and from the outside..
Basically, I enjoy fighters boxing from within each others punching distance without holding like a broad and running circles like a pansy..
Take james toney for instance. Whenever the action gets close, he ducks, weaves, slips, counters, and punches his way out from the inside instead of clinching like bernard. Thats a real inside fighter and infighting is a lost art in today's boxing.
Why do I find bernard boring? Because he clinches every other second due to his lack of infighting skills.. clinching and sneaking in a kidney punch is not skills.
Im not saying that clinching should be banned in boxing . Clinching is necessary in certain situations such as when a fighter is hurt and he's trying to recover, then it's totally acceptable when but when one starts hugging for no apparent reason, then that's a problem. Guys like bernard, ricky hatton, and wlad clinch in fear of being hit and because they have no clue about infighting. Its disgusting.
Simply put, I love fights that have consistent boxing action from the midrange and outside, without unnecessary clinching and running.. but when it involves good infighters like toney and chaves, I enjoy close quarter fights as well..
In a nutshell, im referring to a match like Toney-McCallum.. every punch and every move that has to do with boxing was shown in that fight..
Constant change of momentum, a bit of brawling and boxing like leonard-hearns 1, theres just nothing like it..
Billy Dib. Everyone else doesn't even compare.
i actually always enjoy wards and mayweathers fights. i dont at all think they are boring.
wlad is boring. abraham is boring. molina is boring. trout is boring.
