Hope it improves for you man. Knee pain is brutal! I mashed mine up over the years doing alot of stupid things and over the last few years they seemingly take turns turning up the ache. Start of the year I went down heavy with a big Shepherd and it felt like someone stabbed my kneee with a dull butterknife, every step it felt like it could kick in backwards! As soon as that stopped, the left started going numb?! I better stop complaining though for fear that they will get on the same page one day and I won't have a decent knee to over compensate on Getting old sucks bud.

Knee pain will really f*<k you up. Impedes so much on one's activities, plus the pain wears you down.
Mine was temporary, two times with really bad bursitis, had trouble just walking the stairs in the house, needed a walking stick outdoors. My heart goes out to those where it's chronic and gets worse.

From limping on a bad knee for years and refusing to get any treatment, my pal's other knee and lower back is getting painful now because the years of hobbling off-kilter has thrown the rest of him out of whack.
Oh well, at least he has knees. I have a pal who's been in a wheel chair since I think about 1985, drunken driving, crashed, single vehicle accident, broke his back.

Y'know, since the ufc took off big time in 2005 because of the ultimate fighter tv show, I bet there must be many thousands upon thousands of young idiot teenage boys who've really f*<ked their knees by smashing them into heavy bags and whatnot....

Im 55 my mri showed replacment is the only option left as the cartilage is all but gone and osteoarthritis is there. I was shocked considering what I get up to. They recon its so bad if I want to I could head the public list and be next off the trolley anytime I want to. But they have said doing what I do I would wear the new rails out in 5 years or less and they only get two shots at fixing them then you are on your own so they recon try to stretch my time out because they advance the technology every year as well.
Fish oil in volume is a help. I always thought they cut your whole knee out and bang a new metal joint into either bones. This is bullshit ,they remove al the shit that annoys you from within the join then they screw in titanium rails top and bottom either side of either bone so the rails glide on each other.

I have not done swimming I know it is a good exercise but it is just not convenient.

I have the cross trainer/bike two in one which has built up the muscles of my knees but the real problem is in the knees themselves.

I think I have arthritis in both of them. The right knee has had an ACL operation 2006 and is generally fine, the left knee has no ligament and is weaker which is why I think the bone rubs on the bone and I get the severe pain.

I have a doctors appointment Monday and have to lie to him that the problem was caused by running as they have advised me not to play football.

I do not want to get to a stage where I have to stop the basics such as cycling and cross trainer because of the knee because I would definitely end up obese and die of heart disease.

I really want to play football again and have a laugh with my mates. I do not regret the football I have played loved every second of it.

Rowing is a great exercise and less stressful on the knees.

Take a rest and dont put anymore stress on your kness until a proper diagnosis is carried out.

Does your current job affect your knee?

No just an office job, did some cycling exercise today but only 20 minutes. It did not hurt that much but not motivated to do more.

Any steps leading up to where you work? I bet it hurts the worse of all going up and down them.

Inclined slopes are hell on mine, specially going downhill.

After the mild exercise the knee got worse. I really feel like an invalid and thoroughly pissed off with the knee. People have been saying I have been limping and I have ignored them and this explains by bad back.

Doctor referred me to consultant for appointment 25th February.

Still cannot walk properly and have not trained since which makes me feel lazy and fat.

@Andre the NHS gave me this to wear which is actually good when I am on the bike and cross trainer as I feel no pain afterwards.
