Steele should have waited in the Chavez/Taylor fight but the ref should have have called it in the first Bute/Andrade fight. So I guess it depends on the fighter and not the circumstances. What a crock of shit and we all know what happened in the second Andrade fight. He mentally fell apart in the Froch fight. Its the reason countless fighters dont travel.

Agreed! That beating turned a hoe into a bigger hoe, that's how I see it. I say this because Bute made a championship career out of beating bums and C level oppositions in his backyward..

After winning the vacant title against C level Berrios, he defended it against nothing but tomato cans and guys who just didnt belong in the ring with him..

People complain how Ward gets hometown advantage?! Take a look at this guy Bute's resume and see where he's fought. At least Ward fought the best available..

I used to get into alot with the Butetards when I was at ESB cuz I always told them the same thing, that Bute is a pampered fighter and he'll get knocked out by the first elite fighter he faces then bamm, Froch proves me right..

BUte is a B level fighter at best..

I don't buy all this shit about Lucian being protected, at least no more than any other "local" star. He fought purely in his backyard, but it's not like they were handing him complete stiffs or giving him home-cooked decisions like certain European fighters. Sakio Bika, Andrade twice (if he was so protected, why would they put him in there again with the guy who nearly knocked him out?), Edison Miranda (one of the biggest bombers at 168 at the time), Mendy, Glen Johnson... these were tough, high ranking guys, and he mostly won in dominant, impressive fashion. And if he was so protected, why would he ever agree to fight Froch in his backyard?

He fought in Canada exclusively simply because he draws a huge crowd in Quebec and makes a lot more money, as opposed to the US where he had a fraction of the following. So give the guy some credit.

That being said, I think the Froch fight really fucked him up. Froch beat him up. It was an embarrassing, emasculating beatdown. That's a hard one to come back from.

The Froch beating clearly did not scare Bute from fighting. Bute went on to fight Grachev who is a big puncher in his very next fight.

The more relevant question is would a win over Pascal redeem Bute?

the bute situation is weird because he was thought so highly of. everybody thought that bute and ward were the best 168 pounders in the world and needed to fight. once froch destroyed bute, everybody pretty much forgot about him. i still think that he is a good fighter but just not great. i think pascal will win because he has a great chin, has a decent punch and has decent speed. i think that he will eventually catch bute. most people already knew that bute had a weak chin before the froch fight.

I think Bute still has a lot to offer personally. After seeing Froch Groves he'll potentially fancy that rematch more. I'd like to see him make a statement and beat Pascal, that would shake things up again. He still has very good boxing skills and the punch power to trouble anyone at 168 atleast. I guess we'll see.....

All I can say is, if that first Andrade fight had been a 15 rounder, Bute would be looking a two KO defeats.
My fun loving personality and the devil made me say that.
