I like Kirkland and was rooting for him to destroy this kid, but he behaved like a classless cunt. It was clear his "5 weeks" with Ann Wolfe was all catch up work for not being in shape. He was slow, sluggish, lacked power and unbelievably easy to hit.

His strategy of letting the guy wear out beating his ass in the first round worked again. Lucky for him he was fighting Tapia and not Lara or Trout. Or Cotto. Or Canelo....

I don't think the last punch Kirkland landed was a cheap shot. He was already throwing the punch when Smoger came between them. I don't hold it against him.

Thaat was scary to watch. Failure to protect a guy on multiple fronts, that's been covered. I would have loved to see the ring doctor step in and tell Tapia's corner to shut the hell up.
