Canelo would be ideally for him. Biggest money + a winnable fight for him.
A guy like Lara (and probably Trout) would pick him apart.

If I'm Trout I am chasing that fight and hopefully signing with 50 afterward. So if Kirkland makes the call he's got to jump on. Trout needs to find a sense of urgency in his career and his approach to his fights. He almost fights indifferent and against a fellow counter puncher that indifference appeared to be enhanced. And get out of New Mexico. All that peyote is scrabbling his brain.
For Kirkland its a fight that can be made and dare I say he looked pretty good for a guy shy on fundamentals that has been inactive for close to 2 years with in and out trainers, his volatile relationship with Miss Wolfe and gangland mentality. He's not getting the credit he deserves given all the circumstances. Tapia was a real prospect. And props to him also for fighting Kirkland at that stage in his career. That is rare these days. Such a risk.
I don't think James has a hope in getting Lara, Alvarez or Andrade. The are all Oscar fighters and he burnt that bridge
No way, Canelo can take what Kirk can dish out and give it right back to him. Trout he'd have a shot at. Lara is another given what night he catches him on because Lara can look awesome or woeful.
Cotto is interesting but I think he's got enough left to take Kirkland out.
I think there is 1 bout and 1 bout only for Kirkland....a rematch vs Carlos Molina!
Agree with all of that, Kirkland won't beat a serious puncher with skills, he can't get out of the way of anything to save his life. A rematch with Molina would be interesting and Carlos deserves it, but the first fight was boring as hell so I'm not hoping for it. The fight I'd most like to see Kirkland in is against Keith Thurman, that's interesting imo.
