Maidana was outstanding. The start was just blistering and I was watching it with a giddy grin on my face. Then Broner appeared to be turning it around a little in the middle rounds, and then Maidana amped it up and another KD. The point deduction was fair, but Broner should have been deducted too. He was warned ooh at least seven times and then the sucker punch in round 11. Cole is a twat of a referee and horribly biased. Should definitely be pushed off a pier. Otherwise, it was a great fight and it was good to see Broner thoroughly humiliated. Broner makes Khan look like LaMotta in the great chin evaluation stakes.

It was a great card and Showtime again teaches HBO a lesson. Maidana was in search and destroy mode today and I have no interest in a Broner rematch. Let Broner work his way back the hard way, the cheating little freak. Talk about a delayed over reaction at the headbutt. Seeing Broner walking back to his dressing room in bits was hilarious too. Apparently they were throwing drinks all over him.

I would like to see a Khan/Maidana rematch. Or Mattyse/Maidana. Or Garcia/Maidana. All excellent fights. Mayweather perhaps, but stylistically I am not sure Maidana would be able to land very much.

Agree with all of that, excepting for the comparison with Khan in the chin department. If Amir had gotten caught early like that he would've never seen the final bell against Maidana, although it's to his credit it took Maidana so long to find his chin of course. I thought Broner actually showed he's a pretty tough guy with lots of heart tonight, he's just really not hard to hit.

You are right, I was trying to be a bit clever with that comment. Seeing if Maidana can get to him earlier is one reason I want to see a Khan rematch. Was a great first fight, could be an equally good or better rematch. Today's fight was cracking fun. Maidana is a tough cookie.

I have not seen the fight. I just heard on the net. The 1st thing I thought "Was it a close or controversial decision ?"

And looking at the reports. It wasn't. Maidana knocked Broner down twice and won clearly to the point were Broner may well lose in a rematch. Looks like Broner was a touch over rated because Maidana is good fighter but can you even began to imagine what Mayweather would do with him ?

In fact never mind Mayweather, Tim Bradley. Shawn Porter. Danny Garcia would beat Maidana comfortably. It also makes Amir Khans victory over Maidana look very good.

The worst part is that a lot of us are surprised that Maidana got the decision. That speaks volumes about the state and politics of boxing.

But damn I haven't jumped with joy this much since Marquez shot gunned Pacquiao.
