Default Marcos Maidana VS Adrien Broner HBO tonight

Pretty quiet on here about the fights tonight on Showtime, should be an entertaining night of fights.

Adrien Broner vs. Marcos Maidana, 12 rounds, welterweight
Keith Thurman vs. Jesus Soto Karass, 12 rounds, welterweight
Leo Santa Cruz vs. Cesar Seda, 12 rounds, junior featherweight
Beibut Shumenov vs. Tamas Kovacs, 12 rounds, light heavyweight

Also on the card but not being televised is Jermain Taylor vs. J.C. Candelo, 10 rounds, super middleweight.

I'm interested in seeing Shumenov as I've heard lots about him but haven't seen him live. Leo Santa Cruz is never in a bad fight and should provide lots of action. Keith Thurman's stock is rising fast but he's facing a tough Mexican road warrior in Soto Karass who is coming off impressive victories against notable opposition.

In the main event its Marcos "El Chino" Maidana VS Adrien "The Problem" Broner. When the fight was first announced my first reaction was "easy fight for Broner to look impressive" Maidana is flat footed and there to be hit, but his punching power is the great equalizer and he has improved his boxing skill since joining the Garcia camp. The suspense is in seeing if Broner A. Will fight in front of Maidana and test his power and B. What kinda problems will "The Problem" have if the Argentine slugger gets a hold of him.

I'm going to go with my initial reaction and say Broner wins the fight, it'll be tougher test then he's used to but he will use some movement and hand speed to confuse Maidana. I think Maidana gets hurt in the fight and if Broner presses his advantage he could stop "El Chino" but in the end we should see a 12 round victory for Adrien Broner.

    What are your thoughts?

I like how Maidana pushes Broner out of his way to the scales

Hoping Maidana pulls off a beating!

Have no doubt about it, Maidana isn't coming to play. If Broner stands in front of Maidana this could be a great fight. However I think tonight will be the first time we see Broner get on a bike and use movement.

Awesome stuff bud. This card starts at 7pm here...a 5 hr run decent scraps. Thurman v Soto Karass might just be a sleeper and provide huge fireworks. I honestly don't think Maidana go caveman but instead use his improved jab. It will help. Broner better look to show more than laying in playing around. He's 10 times faster but I'd for once like to see him box off the jab, shorten up his stance and use his mobility as much as he uses his mouth.

I'm not sold on broner don't think I ever will be. maidana isn't a 135 demarco or escebedo, when broner is in fights where he just gets tagged like rees, paulie, pdl they say its cause the oponents can't hurt him, I'm actually not sure broner is that skilled to elude these fighters and think maidana will have a chance to get his punches in. I might be way off and broner might completely outbox marcos but going with late maidana ko.

I'd be more excited with a Maidana victory over Broner than a Canelo victory over Mayweather for sure.

    Probably bloody 4am like usual.

    Broner is not a welterweight.

    He should stay at 140.

I can't believe there isn't more hype about this card.

This has all the makings of a great action fight. People were complaining that Broner was fighting guys who couldn't punch hard in Gavin Rees and Malignaggi. Well now he's fighting a BRUTAL, relentless puncher with two bricks in his hands, who will make Broner pay if he gets lazy with his defense like he did in his last two fights.

I hear people saying Maidana isn't a real WW or he isn't effective at WW... well, Broner is the guy who was fighting at LW up until last fight, whereas Maidana has been a career 140lb guy, but has more experience at 147.

I'm really looking forward to this one, and also seeing more of Keith Thurman.

I think the hate for mayweather has slightly shifted to broner.

Floyd is hated but broner is doing his best to be the most hated boxer on earth.

Hate is s strong word but his antics on the internet are for a purpose so even though we respect his skills, some are hoping this young talent can loose early in his career so he doesnt take the torch of floyd.

I just think that broner wants it all to soon and he should be fighting at 140 for a few fights at least but the money is crazy at 147 so if he looks good tonight i see a great annoying future!

There won't be a next FMJ just like there wont be a next Ali. Floyd took the business to a different world. Broner is more like a Cory Spink Jr before Judah got to him. I think he will lose because unlike Floyd, Broner is not as defensive early in his career.
