Pretty quiet on here about the fights tonight on Showtime, should be an entertaining night of fights.
Adrien Broner vs. Marcos Maidana, 12 rounds, welterweight
Keith Thurman vs. Jesus Soto Karass, 12 rounds, welterweight
Leo Santa Cruz vs. Cesar Seda, 12 rounds, junior featherweight
Beibut Shumenov vs. Tamas Kovacs, 12 rounds, light heavyweight
Also on the card but not being televised is Jermain Taylor vs. J.C. Candelo, 10 rounds, super middleweight.
I'm interested in seeing Shumenov as I've heard lots about him but haven't seen him live. Leo Santa Cruz is never in a bad fight and should provide lots of action. Keith Thurman's stock is rising fast but he's facing a tough Mexican road warrior in Soto Karass who is coming off impressive victories against notable opposition.
In the main event its Marcos "El Chino" Maidana VS Adrien "The Problem" Broner. When the fight was first announced my first reaction was "easy fight for Broner to look impressive" Maidana is flat footed and there to be hit, but his punching power is the great equalizer and he has improved his boxing skill since joining the Garcia camp. The suspense is in seeing if Broner A. Will fight in front of Maidana and test his power and B. What kinda problems will "The Problem" have if the Argentine slugger gets a hold of him.
I'm going to go with my initial reaction and say Broner wins the fight, it'll be tougher test then he's used to but he will use some movement and hand speed to confuse Maidana. I think Maidana gets hurt in the fight and if Broner presses his advantage he could stop "El Chino" but in the end we should see a 12 round victory for Adrien Broner.
