Nobody who beat Margarito wouldn't have chopped down Maidana as well imo, if you want to spin it that way. The Paul Williams fight was another good showing for both, those guys were both huge welterweights who would have just dwarfed Marcos.

I remember thinking Clottey definitely did hurt his hand against Margo, he was hitting him with some peaches early and stopped throwing pretty abruptly. Of course he might have gone on to pull his whole earmuffs routine and lost anyways, I can't remember the rounds very well. Funny to think that Margarito beat Martinez all those years ago as well, I wonder if Sergio was any good at that point.

Fuckin tired of these dudes talking about plaster. Some ignorant shit..

Simply put, Cotto couldnt take as much as he dished out which was why he lost.. he shot his load early and didnt have the punch resistance and the stamina to maintain his workrate late in the fight. That's why he submitted on his knees..

It was Margarito's granite chin, stamina, and relentlessness that drove him to victory.. Punching power didnt have shit to do with it..

When you are fatigued as Cotto was, every punch fuckin hurts... you dont have to have devastating punching power to hurt a fatigued opponent..

Maidana beating a prime Margarito is one of the silliest shit ive heard in a while..

i will admit that margos style was a bad match up for cotto because we had seen him get hurt again and again in previous fights. its not like it was some new revelation that cotto could be hurt. but i cant assume that margo wasnt cheating in that fight even if he wasnt. anyways, why would you make this thread? were you hoping for people to say that maidana would win so that you could call us stupid?

i agree. thats why i said that maidana isnt great but neither is margo. both fighters are just determined and dont stop unless they have to. both have shown many vulnerabilities in the ring but margo has shown that he can overcome somebody trying to overpower him with his speed while margo has shown that he cant overcome somebody with speed. and whether or not maidana uses his speed effectively, i think that his speed would be the deciding factor in the fight?
