Deontay Wilder may well be a KO king for real , however his choice of opponents suggests he is a paper tiger , only time will tell I guess.

I keep reading 30 fights means.....30 fights means Jack. The kid hasn't gotten rounds and he hasn't improved enough to throw to the wolves. He's still a prospect hype or not and needs development. If he doesn't show improvement soon they'll probably tell him it's timee to sink or swim. But right now you have a very dynamic athlete that could be worth 100 million dollars. You give that kind of commodity a chance.

I get that people want to see him exposed, his technique is awful. But there is no exposure in getting him a loss, everyone knows his technique is awful.

I don't think anyone is excited about the 30 fights, it's the 30 KOs that have our attention.
Wilder and his team do have a different way of doing things. It seems they want to ease into a belt without taking a single chance. I suppose Wilder will start taking chances and showing us some exciting fights after he becomes a belt holder.
I really don't think I'd want to see Wilder with a belt, it would be more of the same BS we're seeing now. Don't know about the rest of you but I've seen all I can take of Wilder and his idiot handlers.
I'm hoping Oquendo wins if this fight happens

I keep thinking about Fres embarrassing and totally bending over a hyped up face first "reminds me of Tyson" ( yeh, that was actually repeated by some clown on HBO) Cliff Etienne. This 'kid' is developing..right into bad habits and false confidence. I'll bet money he proves to be more Etienne and Derrick Jefferson then he does even a Grant

Jefferson was a nice guy and decent fighter. Don't remember him having power like Wilder though.

I hope Wilder pans out. He's exciting n could revitalize the heavyweight division. He's still a long shot at this point but one Oquendo at a time he's getting closer.

Where would this put Oquendo in the heavyweight scene if he were to come of of his with a decent performance or (however unlikely) a win?

I know, that was a slow pitch over the plate but I had to

Seriously though...Wilder hasn't done anything remotely in the same stratosphere as impressive as that against a "live" guy on a serious hot streak. Kos are a dime a dozen when you have literally never faced harsh adversity and had to go the distance or comeback. Wilders 23rd fight was in some truck stop casino where he spent 5 minutes whispering and hugging Owen Beck in the corner after he quit on the stool.
