why is it so bad? cotto is a small 154 pounder and martinez is a small 160 pounder. at 159, cotto is still giving up quite a bit of weight and an extra pound isnt going to make much of a difference. martinez has always stated that he could fight at 154 if the fight was right. remember that he stayed at 160 because he was the champion. he wanted to move back down in weight.

You summed it up perfectly by saying "an extra poud isn't going to make much of a difference."

It's going to make absolutely no difference. It's just a cheap ploy to throw off Martinez's normal routine and make him extra miserable trying to adjust for that one pound. It's a ploy that Manny used on Cotto. It's bullshit, bush-league gamesmanship

Enough with the fucking catchweights. You can't fight a guy at his weight, don't challenge him. But a minus one lb catchweight? Cotto should be ashamed of himself.
