To clarify too, I believe 2009-2010 Martinez beats current GGG. I just think Martinez has lost more than one step over those past 4 years with the knee injuries and I don't see him keeping GGG off of him consistently.

I think Golovkin is the real deal, but you can't call someone the #1 in the division based off potential. The fact remains that he hasn't beaten anyone you would consider to be one of the best in the division, but Martinez has. Right now, until Martinez moves weight division, retires or is beaten by GGG, he is still the #1 in the division. Golovkin didn't even beat the Champion to become a Champion so I really don't see what he has done to warrant being called #1. He's a great fighter, but it must be proved. Luckily Martinez has said he wants Golovkin after Cotto so we may get our wish.

Martinez choosing to fight Cotto does not make the situation any clearer. GGG is certainly the busiest and Quillin is certainly the most over hyped. Golovkin is the man but until Sergio flat out ducks him, he has to be given the title of number 1. Sturm should fight Golovkin but he won't. Quillin should just fight already.

That's just not true. Quillin hasn't looked unbeatable in his two steps up in competition against Rosado and N'Jikam. Rosado and N'Jikam are good, but Quillin looked flummoxed at times in both fights. He didn't have a long amateur career so I bet he just needs to develop a bit more before he gets put in with the top dogs at middleweight, which is absolutely fine. A great fight for Quillin would be against a Sturm. Quillin doesn't have a big following anyway and a fight so there shouldn't be a problem with fighting in Germany and it's a unification fight. A fight with Sturm would go a long way to telling us where Quillin's at.

Martinez fought last in April, he hasn't been inactive for over a year yet and the Cotto fight is all but scheduled there was a year of inactivity between Floyds fights with Cotto and Guerrero

Geale and Macklin are tougher then the other fighters Quillin has fought. I dont know why Quillin is rated and thats been my opinion for a long time. He seems so crude and I question his power given his performance v Rosado. Regarding his potential he is old enough as it is and cant see him making big improvements at this stage.

I think Billy Joe Saunders would beat him easily. If they fought now.
