A very violent game of Whack a Mole. It's hard to look sensational against a guy shelling up and survive after the 1st and frankly its unrealistic when no ones ever heard of you outside of your home town. Kovalev dominated the fight, and kept it violent. Can't ask for too much more other than a massive fight next and he's done everything but camp on Stevensons patio to get it.

Very impressed with Kovalevs punch selection and keeping it varied. Stabs to the body and started to come around his turtle shell with effect.

I agree, and would just add that Kovalev did what he needed to do. He stopped a guy that he should stop. Certainly, he did it in the violent way that we are accustomed from him, so, if anything, he perpetuates the violent maniac mystique.

Also, I expect Stevenson to do the exact same with Fonfara. I saw Campillo outbox Fonfara for a time in that fight and Stevenson is at a better point in his career than Campillo was when he faced Fonfara. Neither win is extraordinary but they are good wins over solid guys.

It's sad how things have unfolded for Campillo. I was very impressed with him against Cloud and then he went the way of Joachim Alcine; he can no longer take a punch.

Do you think Kovalev cracked his chin?

He may have. But, I see Campillo as having slowed down and lost his desire to train properly n be a champion.

Plus the cat is out of the bag that he has a glass jaw and to jump on him early.

Kovalev needed to go some rounds and was in control. Job done.

Are you saying Campillo always had a glass jaw?

I was a very good performance against an opponent who was undefeated and defensive minded. He didn't neglect the body and it paid dividends.
