Boxing fans are poorly treated, and they know it.
However, fans of American and Canadian professional team sports are made fools of and don't even know it. NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB: you name it!
Those fans are so die-hard loyal to the team that they'll argue with complete strangers and even shout insults if the stranger is a fan of the other team. The players that they so feverishly cheer on, those players have
no loyalty whatsoever to that team. How do the fans rationalize that? The players are like mercenaries, they'll go wherever the money is and the hell with team loyalty, but the fans proudly and inexplicably wear jerseys with those mercenaries' names, (
whoops
), players' name on them.
