At some point maybe everyone will look at how TR has constantly and needlessly harassed Floyd. Or at least those that are fair minded.
I agree with everything you say except for the "Floyd is a victim" part. Don't get me wrong, TR is dirty and deserve criticism but TMT and GB are just as bad and maybe even worse in some regards. You don't see TR offices being raided

I agree with whoever puts on the better matchups and that's GBP..

I could care less if two promoters hold events on the same night.. infact, as a fan, that's even better..

I just love it when there are numerous big matchups by HBO and showtime on the same night.. that's just more fights for me to watch..

If im a prospect, im going with Top Rank.. if im an established fighter, id go with GBP..

But as a fan, gbp is a lot better..

I think TR is right. You should have to have an opponent and contracts signed to secure a date, because in the end the NSAC has to approve the matchup itself (they'd have to approve Floyd's opponent and agree that he was "world class"). So TR for sure does have a point.

But, like everything, it all comes down to money, and Money Mayweather is a huge deal and brings in crazy revenue, so they're going to bend over backwards to appease him and GB. Or else, like Richard Shaeffer said, they can easily take the fight to another location and have that location reap the benefits.

They are arguing procedure and law in the same breath when they aren't intertwined. "It used to be that..." means nothing here. MGM is a company that can set its procedures as they wish, TR doesn't dictate their procedure.

This is what is quickly becoming a huge problem in the sport. Promoters aren't happy being promoters they want to dictate to venues. Networks want to dictate to Promoters. Fighters want to dictate to fighters. Everyone needs to stop trying to rule the world and just do their f'n job. HBO thinks they can pick opponents, who manages the fighters and who promotes them, that's f'd! Every time we support one group over stepping their bounds we empower another to do the same.

I dont think this has anything to do with MGM, it's just a business who, like you said, can do what they want. I could rent out the MGM and go bicycle around the arena for a few hours if I had the money I guess.

TR is pissed at the athletic commission for granting the promotion license without the opponent and contracts signed, and they have every right to be pissed, because that's the rule that's consistent with athletic commissions across the country.

In order to grant you a promoter's license, it stands to reason that they need to know and approve what it is you're promoting. How can they approve what's being promoted if they don't know exactly what's being promoted?

It just goes to show you how much money talks that the athletic commission, which is a government-controlled and funded entity that is supposed to unbiased and completely neutral, is fast-tracking GBP a promoter's license and giving them preferential treatment because they are going to bring a fuck load of money with Mayweather.

The athletic commission's rules and guidelines are supposed to be fair and unbiased, right down the middle. I gaurentee you I wouldn't be able to obtain a promoter's license there for a night of 4-rounders at some small banquet hall without submitting all the fighter's info. It is special treatment for the cash cow.

They don't need to be raided. TR was already caught red handed years ago. I don't think anyone is foolish enough to think they've changed. They're just more experienced so they're better at their misdeeds nows.
