This is a hard one Arguello is a really good boxer, Chavez is a good body puncher over 15 rounds
Alexis wins 14 round TKO, what a great that would have been.![]()

Chavez would hurt him very badly.. dam soon as I saw the title I started visualizing and arguello would get so fucked up here..
I just dont see anybody beating Chavez except for Duran..
Chavez body work would end Arguello
Great fight can't see Chavez stopping arguello I do favour Chavez but I would put money on arguello to at least win one in a trilogy
think happy thoughts
Terrific match-up.
It'd be brutal.
Arguello fought in the era of 15 rounders.
Chavez fought in the era of 12, but he'd have no trouble doing 15.
I'd go with Chavez stopping Arguello in late rds, maybe rd 13 or 14, but Chavez would take a helluva lot of damage coming ahead forcing it.
As powerful a punch as Arguello had, I can't see him backing up a prime Julio Cesar Chavez.
Chavez would be coming ahead with constant pressure, Arguello constantly side-stepping, back-pedallng and then resetting to throw the right hand again-and-again to desperately keep this relentless fighter from overwhelming him and smashing him up.
Yep, that's a savage match-up...
Chavez was a far better boxer-mover pre lt than the later stalker banger. Think his work rate and best of both worlds with bodywork would beat Arguello but easily see him needing to get off the canvas.
