My opinion is that this is a prefabricated stunt to drum up some last-minute interest/press in a fight that was doomed to pale in comparison to Mayweather's showdown with Canelo.

Canelo's first PPV did the SAME numbers as Floyd's 1rst ppv against BALDOMIR...350,000 PPV buys.

All promotional for late PPV $$$$. Whether Maidana is part of it is irrelevant. Money always pulls this crap to gather more PPV and to disrupt opponents plans. Smart but bitch tendencies

Which just goes to show how misdirected pre-fight hype can be. Maidana brought the fight to Floyd, actually made it exciting. The hyped Floyd-Canelo "showdown" is now being sold as an over-the-counter cure for insomnia.

Canelo was very disappointing but I think Floyd took more chances against Chino because it was at his weight.

Good point. But weight notwithstanding, Chino is a renowned big puncher. The threat of damage to Floyd was still there. The difference is, like Cotto, Chino pressed into Mayweather... making him go into the offensive to fend him off. He didn't just stand and plod through the middle of the ring while Floyd boxed circles around him (ala Canelo).

Chino hit harder at light welter, he has not carried that punch power up in weight and I bet Canelo hits harder. Floyd wanted to impress because he had to against Chino, he just had to win against Canelo.

Canelo is the bigger, stronger man. So on punching power alone, I wouldn't argue against you. Floyd knew the size difference, and he's a smart fighter. But bottom line: Chino's stock rose after the loss to Floyd, as did Cotto's. Canelo's stock dropped. People (Canelo fans, particularly) expected more, and were bitterly disappointed. It comes from hyping a fight beyond its merits.
