The good thing is, they found this out with the gloves before the game, can you imagine what would happend if this was found out after teh game.

The commission official rejected them and normally I would not care where they are made but in this case it would appear they were part of a publicity stunt and like I said you can buy almost any name product from Mexico whether licensed or not and it makes a big difference where something is made. Next time you are in Mexico buy a pair of button front Levi's or a polo shirt and tell me the difference. In addition if they are now using everlasts that were not custom made for Maidana and its all cool now suggests that in fact something was wrong with those custom gloves and where and how they were made.
It shouldn't matter what kind of gloves Maidana wears outside of a prop. I dont care who Floyd is. The rules on gloves were well in place before he ever came along. Maidana should be able to wear Reyes or Rival. That is unless Maidana gave him the power to decide in the contract like Hagler did against Leonard? I never saw the contract.

the CEO of Everlast said the only difference between the gloves Maidana wanted to wear and the ones hes wearing is that he had his Customized to be the same color as the Argentinian flag and the regular ones are just red. they were Custom Blue Everlast MX and the ones hes wearing are Stock Everlast MX. Only difference is the color.

Sounds a little suspect. I mean what else would he say? "Someone at a factory took a bribe and left the Reyes pattern for pad design and stitch direction on the machine in order to mess with Mayweathers head"
The colour of the gloves? The gloves looked suspect and the entire team rejected them looking rather genuine while doing so. They all put them on. If the stock gloves are the same but a different colour then they to would have been rejected.
Here is a picture:
They look fine in that photo albeit displayed differently then Floyds.
In preparation for his fight against Arturo Gatti, 2005... Roger Mayweather said: ""It ain't the tools; it's the carpenter..." when asked about the differences in fight gloves, as quoted in a NY Times article. See here: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/24/sp...oves.html?_r=0
The article also states that "Rules mandate that a glove weigh no more than eight ounces for matches under 154 pounds and 10 ounces for all other matches above that limit." ... just an FYI.
I guess we will never see Floyd go to MW now. lololol....
Bigger man George, bigger punch!
