Anyone can look like a cute boxer against one dimensional bums like Rios and Prov but Marquez is leagues above those guys, something alvarado has never seen..

Alvarado used to be a wrestler and got a late start in boxing, therefore, boxing is second nature to him.. he has to think before making a move rather than moving instinctively.. that's the difference between natural fighters and late starters...

He got out ouboxed by Precott FFS until he pulled out a hell mary at the end..

As long as father time doesnt catch up to marquez, he's going to dissect alvarado and do a number on him..
I hear what you are saying and it makes sense but I just love Mile High Mike, always been a fan win or lose. I'm going to stick with my pick for him to win but it is with my heart, not my head. This would allow him to move up a level too with I would love to see him reach. I guess we all have boxers we feel that way about.

Marquez has too much experience, too much ring craft and is all around just better than Alvarado! I like Alvarado , but Marquez is a different kettle of fish. Guess we will see pacquiao-Marquez 5

Marquez made such a big deal that he would never fight Pac again as he cherished the moment for himself and Mexico. Money changes everything.

PAC has the 5th title now though...that's marquez' motivation. He will fight PAC again I can bet my house on that

I'm in for this fight. Props to Marquez for choosing Alvarado but I think it's a risk not worth it. At this stage of his career, I think he should've picked an easy fight to set the stage for the Pac V fight, I think he's earned it. IMO, even with all his flaws, Alvarado is still a legit fighter. With his reach and height advantage, if Alvarado jabs his way through the fight, it can give Marquez some problems. Marquez is a pure counter-puncher and he has difficulty going forward and catching backtracking jabbers. He can go for the body and set up a KO shot to the head though; he's done that before. Anyways, if I were him, I would've picked an easier fight. On the plus side, if he beats Alvarado, that's another feather on his cap, a legit one at that...
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

This should be a good fight and if Marquez has slipped enough and they get into some real exchanges, it could turn out to be a great fight.

Most likely I see Alvarado's speed frustrating Marquez early as he tries to box him like Bradley did.

Alvarado should win about 4 rounds with Marquez winning 8 or possibly stopping Mike down the stretch.

Who knows exactly what Marquez has left though.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

See a workman like effort for Marquez over distance. Hopefully he'll come in more mobile and not play the inside pocket counter guy he tried with Bradley. Much of this will depend on Alvarados approach, he has decent combinations and shown movement that can trouble a guy strictly thinking himself some powerhouse. But the beating he is coming off..not just physical either. That kid put literally all heart and soul on his sleeve and Provo beat him to a pulp. Love seeing JMM return to the Forum, great history and story.

Alvarado is a great athlete but he is just very limited skill wise, he really didn't have anything to offer JMM and I think most people knew that going in.

Wow, you're actually calling a person of non-African descent a great athlete!!!

I'm fckin with you man. Seriously , all in good fun.

You're right though, Alvarado just didn't ( and never will) have the ring skills to beat a legend like JMM. Did anyone else think Marquez lost some of his power though down the stretch? He was still landing but not the powerful shots that mangled Mikes eye early on.

Damn, I'm rewatching the fight now. JMM dominated in each and every way. Alvarado has quite a chin, man can take a beating. overall, at least against Mile High, it didn't look like JMM lost a step
