Fair hypothetical as both have been scrapped off the bottom of the boot. But assuming both are tops I've seen much more from Lewis on a deeper level vs Wlad today beating up guys who fight like they were just happy to win a reality TV contest. Wlad fights complacent and would shart his pants with tension. Lewis just has more tools a willingness to use them.

I agree, Wlad would be winning and Lewis changes tactics and just gets rough with Wlad who panics and gets hit and finished.

Why is it only Wlad can be KO'd in this? Lennox has been caught and counted out before too.

Lewis has been counted out too....true....but never by a full-time member of the Professional Golfers Association

I believe that's due to the fact that against Rahman he got an IMMEDIATE rematch and absolutely destroyed the guy. It took him 3 years and some friendly judging to get back in with McCall who had a nervous breakdown in the rematch so I guess people respect that more. A 3rd fight vs Holyfield was never had, a rematch with Mercer was never had and those are the only other quasi-blemishes on his record.

Wlad didn't jump right back in with Sanders or Brewster and that I guess hurts his cred. He did rematch Brewster 3 years later (similar to Lewis-McCall II) and just demolished him, but people will say Lamon was past it. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't I think the true resurrection of Wladimir's career happened vs the then undefeated "next big thing" Sam Peter where he got tested, he took shots to the dome and got back up and won....something Lennox Lewis nor Mike Tyson ever did. The Purrity match was just a mistake of youth and even Purrity said 'If he paced himself he would have won the fight', Wlad tried to get a rematch with him but Universum didn't give Purrity a good enough offer so it never happened.

This question is insanely difficult to answer because nobody can say for certain if the Lennox Lewis who fought Vitali was in his best shape (and vice versa). People can have a guess about it but they weren't really 100% prepared to fight each other because Lennox was to fight Kirk Johnson and Vitali was to fight Cedric Boswell (giant gulfs in class between who they both were SUPPOSED to fight and who they eventually fought). Lennox Lewis could have seen Kirk Johnson and thought "Meh, I could blow this guy out of the water EASY. This swan song fight will be a piece of cake...speaking of which oooh I think I'll have a piece" and at the same time Vitali could have thought "Cedric Boswell, that guy is a nobody, this will be an easy fight" or he could have thought "Boswell isn't too big or strong, I think I'll rely on speed for this fight rather than brute force" (or vice versa).

If Lennox fought Wlad it would be more of a chess match because these guys would have prepared for one another and it wouldn't have been thrown together at the last minute so obviously it's a tough call. If Lennox was at his peak shape vs Vitali then the longer the fight goes the more it favors Wlad.

Yes he could but it would be more likely that Lewis would knock out Wlad based on his chin being better than Wlads.

because ive seen lewis hit by some big shots and not even get wobbled. his chin wasnt great but it wasnt made of glass either. ive never once seen wlad get hit cleanly and not at least wobble a bit. whenever he even barely gets tagged you can see a look of worry on his face. wlad is competing with floyd patterson for worst chin for a HW champion.

Agreed, against Vitali Lennox knew he was losing and behind. He decided to take drastic action and just get direct and physical with him. To Vitali credit he took the punishment but his eye did not hold out. I do not think Wlad would take that type of assault and would eventually crumble.

Well Vitali had a sense of urgency as well due to the cut (and to the fact he was up on the cards and had hurt Lennox in the 2nd round) so the choice he made to make it a phone booth fight meshed with Lennox trying to connect more and stop Vitali....Wladimir cut or no cut would be unlikely to be a stationary target, the guy moves, cuts down the ring, circles, and if he doesn't feel properly set for an exchange he'll clinch and reset and as winded as Lewis was you have to wonder if more movement would have hindered his power and slowed him down to a point where Wlad could connect.

But all this is mere speculation

Wlad is essentially a more robotic, more cautious and clinch happy version of Lewis.

He does a pretty good imitation but would lose to the original.

Wlad fights every fight the way Lewis fought the Tua match.
