Seriously though, this has been an awesome start. I know FIFA is just absurdly corrupt -they literally might be telling officials to give Brazil calls - and I don't care, it's still an amazing sports event.

Even today has been fun, and frankly the first two games were kind of shitty looking on paper. I was looking forward to England-Italy from the start (watch that be a fucking bore).

    Hello

How did Wales get on in the test match earlier?

Also, I can't find them on my wall chart, so what group are Wales in in the World cup?

Sterling was impressive, but Italy were pretty comfortable.

I don't know how a team without a true winger can be that dominant on the right side, but they were. England just are kind of tactically naive, strange considering the history and how huge the sport is there.

Comfortable? No chance. England had the better chances. Needed to be more clinical. That was a 50/50 match. Could have gone either way. Got to play Rooney at 10 or don't have him in at all.

Im not a football fan but I will watch the euros and worlds and it infuriates me being from Guernsey that Matt Le Tissier was never given the same chances as players like Wayne Rooney who have done absolutely fuck all on the world stage. Le Tissier had a mediocre team around him against some of the best players in the world and worked magic. Some of the best skills ever. Rooney has always needed world class players around him.

Last night was pitifull. Had Le Tissier been there in Ronneys place you know that ball was going in and probably lobbed over the keeper.

It was horrible watching england there were 1 or 2 players that were brave enough to take on the opposition but the rest looked scared to have the ball and just kicked it any where no where near their team mates. Rooney stole the ball off his own team mate at one point and just wasted another shot on goal.

Le Tissier had the confidence and attitude to take on the opposition and leave them standing.

What the fuck is Rooney for?

Also, Le Tissier was the king of taking penalties.

Le Tiss retired a long time a go WTF!

England did play well and I think for the shape of the team Liana should play on the left for Wellbeck and Rooney up front supporting Sturridge.

Sterling was excellent and the Italy keeper was busier than ours.

What im getting at is England have a history of not wanting to use creative players who can win games. Players who never missed a penalty and had one saved out of 48. Who have the confidence and skill to take the ball through a defence and put the fear of god in to the est goalie in the world.

Wy do they insist on using shit useless players like Rooney?

They turned down the chance to have Le Tiss and Gazza in 98. With that creative flair you never know.

I think it was Uraguay in the last world cup who got quite far just with Diego Forlan. England seem to think they need a whole team of mediocre players who are too scared to do anything with the ball.

Touche. Wales are in the rather large group known as Group Holiday. As for the test match, we could have done with someone who could tackle as well as the Costa Rican fella who took out Lugano for the Uruguay penalty!

well I've just woke up after a heavy night - marred by Italian defeat

I wasn't expecting anything from england this time but we didn't deserve to lose that.

Going to be tough to get through now but based on that performance it's definitely possible

Half a Liverpool team is good, but players like Rooney and a bunch of tattoo'ed or bearded meat heads are not. England looked better than I thought they would because of the Liverpool players, but Rooney really is looking a relic and take away the hair would look older than the manager. I have no idea why he is still there. The England team like the UK would be helped by a program of limited immigration. 2 foreigners per team would allow more English players to get their chance and improve, just as controlled immigration would help British people compete and reduce demands on a collapsing welfare state.

England can still qualify, but a lot to do now.

England would be mad to drop rooney, he's a suoer talent and always has been, even when he isn't playing well he still has the ability to whack it in from 30 yards out or barge through the defence and poke it in.. Rooney is a top class player(and I dont like saying that about english players).
