Yes Gamboa lost but he was fighting out of his weight, 130lbs I think, Crawford won but I was
not impressed what's all the fuss about this guy, a lot of you rant and rave about this fighter
please tell me why, Crawford in my eyes is nothing special and I can see him getting sparked.
Sorry chaps but I can not for the life of me, see a great fighter in the making just a overrated
one, I hope I am wrong.

Seems like a crazy observation, he took some of Gamboas shots flush without budging. If he stays at lightweight he cleans out but should go the light welter and go for Garcia. That's a very winnable fight for him. Also think he'd beat Algieri very easily so that would be a handy title.

So instead of kicking Gamboa while he's down and talking the usual shit, how about we talk about how awesome it is that a guy with his amateur pedigree and physical gifts chooses to throw bombs and make exciting fights instead of stinking out joints like Rigo and Ward. Talk about how much heart he has, how when he got hurt instead of grabbing and holding he chomped down on his mouth piece and started throwing bombs like Arturo Gatti.

Bravo to both guys. Great fight by two monster fighters.

I think Gamboa needs to get his ass back down to 130 though. I think Crawford's size really wore him down. A 7lb weight advantage is too much to be giving away at those lower weights.
Crawford was just better prepared.... that and Gamboa was laid off too long and has other stuff going on in his world.

Typically Cuban syndrome- come to America, and then lose their way. Seen it happen time and time again.

Rigo seems to be cut from a different cloth. He is remaining grounded. That's very good for him and all of us.

Seen to many good fighters through the years, Crawford is not one of them he's a so what fighter
would I pay to see him no, remember beauty is in the eye of the be holder, and in my eyes he's
no beauty. I am far from crazy and if WE all liked the same thing life would be boring.!

yea but surely even if you dont like a guys style etc you can still recognize how good he is? I think hes a complete boxer, good speed, decent power, good skills, can fight ortho and southpaw. He might struggle against bigger fighters when he moves up but he is a very good world champion.

Never liked him and have always thought him completely overrated and I dont use that term as a rule. Nor do I write fighters off after losing a fight but I wrote him off long before this even though I had a few doubts a week or two leading up. He had a Jones sized ego the moment he got off the boat and then it was enabled by Arum. A brave showing sure but he looked like Roy at the beginning of his decline tonight. Fell in love with the silk sheets like Oddly Harrison and just like him it ended what could have been something special.

What I could not believe was his absolute lack of head movement in the kill zones. Go out to the yard and place a stick into the ground. Now go to the fridge and grab a potato. I was going to say tomato but that underrated fruit wont survive this test. Ok lastly blindfold yourself in punching range and set a timer for a minute. Count the number of times you nail Mr. Potato head?

Never seen a guy that physically talented that oblivious to head movement. Like he was missing his neck.

Long on flash but short on fundamentals.

It always amazes me how we still hold on to what was supposed to be even after a 'name' gets sparked out. Its been mentioned numerous times and almost sounds an excuse...but Gamboa decided fights ago he was done at 130 when he blew the weight in that farce vs Solis and walked away from his trinket rather than meeting a contract.

Crawford is as low key as they come but he shows everything you can hope and ask for in a young champion. Solid boxing skill, coming in the under dog and showing to be a switch hitter and making rbr adjustments and coming back from adversity and finishing a dangerous fighter. He travels regardless of 'hype' and earns trinket in another country. Not to mention carrying a following of hometown and putting fans in the seats where you hardly if ever here boxing mentioned. He is stubborn though and really I think he made it harder than it needed to be slugging at times with Gamboa. Lampley went a little bat shit crazy with the 'great' title but HBO is all about pushing product and hopefuls. Sometimes they prove not ready for primetime and turn in a lukewarm showing ala Gamboa vs Jiminez on HBO and promptly return to FNF, and sometimes they make a devastating showing like last night.

I like Gamboa n still think he is championship material, just not at 135. I would like to see him mix it up a little more and add in some traditional boxing, as I think it would make him more effective. He is a very talented fighter and u know he has solid fundamentals from his amateur experience. It was a great win for Crawford, who I also think is a class act n great boxer-puncher, but I wonder how much different the fight would've been if Gamboa had decided to use his legs to create angles, jabbed to the body, n fought a more tactical fight (close the gap, combo n disengage on an angle). Either way, I look forward to Gamboa going down to 126/130 n being successful n Crawford continuing his climb to the p4p rankings.

I'm talking shit about gamboa because he fought like a damn fool! He got expose for a pretender, good when things are going well but the moment crawford gave him trouble, gamboa reduced to a fool abandoning logic.

Gamboa could of won that fight but he put pride over brains. Say goodbye to dreams of making top $$$

yeah he was tough/resolute an all that...yada yada, but he was dirty and tried to cheat with illegal blows. he got ganked. but yes, id watch him get taken out by a smart boxer again.

Gamboa has been down multiple times from 126-135 so I'm sure its safe to say that the weight wasn't a problem he just has a horrible chin and gets too reckless he should worked more with Emmanuel to help he's defense he always did wonders with chinny guys. Look at Hearns and Klit Gamboa needs a trainer that will teach him how to keep that chin out of reach but still land all he's punches

it depends where you think that people are rating crawford. i would agree that he isnt going to be the next great thing in boxing, but this fight did show me that he is a true champion. he is undoubtably the best at 135. i also think that he will have success once he moves up to. im not expecting him to become a top 5 p4p or anything, but he could definitely crack the top 10 in time.

and gamboa is still a good fighter. he isnt a push over by any means. it was a good win.
