I don't think the speed will give Perez too many problems, but Jennings' movement might. Also, Jennings has been on a great trajectory and after that last fight with Takam, Perez's is not so great. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Jennings. This is a good test for both of them. If Jennings gets by Perez, he might have earned the top spot for American heavyweights at least in terms of quality of wins.
Takam is a tough guy, don't sell him short.
Wilder needs a durable opponent who will take him the distance if only there were a McCall or Mercer in this era.
See my thinking is we haven't seen his vaunted power destroy anyone he wasn't fully expected to destroy. It cancels itself out. I can't knock Jennings chin when he has been dropped and fully recovered to win...not to mention show a strong body when hit...and escape that Wilder has literally never fielded a heavy shot save for Haye having him out on his feet in sparring. The more mysterious chin is by far Wilder, along with about 5 other things.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
There is only one man we can even put close to those two names and that's Tony Thompson. But you won't find an American HW that goes the full distance today... you would have to go to Europe.
Notice Wilder has not fought a legitimate European contender, ever? Yea, he fought Serghei- but Serghei was already entrenched in the American system.
I'm starting to believe they are protecting Wilder, too.
Bigger man George, bigger punch!

I think that's a fair comparison. For all Wilder has displayed in apparent one punch power, Seldon showed early on top hand speed, a piston jab and just better coordination and athleticism if you ask me. He also displayed tearing back from adversity in Ribalta ko and a willingness to face decent contenders. The chin after enough tests?...that's another storyYou just don't know until you are asked the questions
On a sidenote, can we merge both "they might steal" threads for tonights card?![]()
Jennings vs. Perez did not steal the show. It was an alright match, but Perez wanted to be lazy, dirty and spoil.
Jennings did his best but showed he def lacks some punching power. Not in determination though.
