And here lies the problem with lineage. The lineal MW champion doesn't want to face the no. 1 contender and probably will never. Since it's speculated that Cotto's next fight will be against Alvaraz for the Lineal MW title. Golovkin has been the no. 1 MW contender for the past 3 years, Martinez ducked him and now Cotto is too.

Everyone gives someone like Wlad shit, but that guy fights all comers as the HW champ. Everyone gave shit to Pacquiao for fighting Algieri, but Algieri has at least beaten a very good fighter in Provodnikov, who has Lee beaten? Horrible fight. I call it what it is.

Cotto took on the best and most recognized middleweight and won. He is entitled to make a voluntary defence and bank some money.

GGG has to clear up the trinkets and force a fight with Cotto.

He can't clear up the trinkets when the other guys don't want to fight him. Quillen holds the WBO title and wants none of it, neither does the IBF champ Solimon, and neither does Cotto the WBC and lineal champ.

    This.

And I am not saying Lee is rubbish but he has struggled against very limited opposition which is not the mark of greatness. Lame and cop out come to mind.

risk-reward all in favor of Lee. He loses, he fights on. He wins, wow!!!

For Cotto, it's just the opposite.

Go for the monster money now and fight Canelo or GGG and then retire in Paradise for eternity.

I just feel bad for ggg because he is going to get passed up by all the big names. Beating Sergio would have boosted him a ton as well as beating cotto but neither want any part of him. Quillin would be a nice fight too but politics have gotten in the way of that fight. He has fought the best that he could so far. I'm sure that cotto fight canelo after Lee but it would be nice if he fought ggg after that fight after ggg beats Solomon.

    Ditto.

A waste of time beyond beyond being an end of career pocket filler. There are far better and enticing fights out there than this. What's the point as a fan?
