For someone to man up and agree to fight him. What's he supposed to do ?

At least ggg is keeping active unlike many other fighters in his position. Usually people in his position wait for a big fight and fight maybe once a year. None of the bigger names want to fight him so he is taking out the next best while he waits. You can't fault him for that.

We all want to see the titles unified but different promoters, TV networks and avoiding there is nothing a champion can do but keep busy and defend against the best available fighters.

Sulaiman: Golovkin-Rubio Winner in Line For Cotto - Boxing News

Its a belt unification fight as Rubio has the interim WBC belt, and the winner will go on to fight Cotto.

If Cotto takes a voluntary defense in December, his stated goal is to fight Canelo next year. One can never be certain, especially with the "wretched WBC," but I doubt they'll force Cotto to face GGG when there is the possibility of sanctioning fees on a Canelo-Cotto fight.

I can't see that happening. Either cotto will find a loop hole in the whole mandatory situation or he will just drop the belt. Cotto doesn't need nor does he want ggg.

I think Cotto has balls and after a voluntary and fighting Saul he will take on GGG later 2015.

Rubio fails every time he steps up!

    Chavez
    Pavlik

His last 5 opponents have like 40+ losses between them.

    Terrible.

Rubio has lost a lot of fights. I don't see what he has to offer at all. GGG needs big fights and at 32 he is good at staying busy and adding filler, but I expect more. I don't buy the excuse that noone will fight him.

There are a lot of good fights if he steps up in weight or calls someone else up. I think GGG is a fantastic fighter, but at this stage he should be going for big fights. He is in his prime and has maybe 3 or 4 years to really hammer some names on the resume. He reminds me a little of Calzaghe in the sense that he wants to stay in a division, but he isn't being challenged enough. I don't see how Rubio will last 4 rounds TBH. It's tough for Golovkin. MW had a lot of good fighters a few years ago, but the division has weakened. I just think he has to call out names and maybe get them up or go down a little to get them.

It's not always ideal to step up or down in weight, although I appreciate that's how legends are made. GGG is a MW in a MW's body. He isn't very big or tall , so SMW Is out of the question. And he would have to drain himself to lose half a stone. I think eventually he will step up to SMW, Although the body clock is ticking, but he wants to wipe out his natural division first and achieve what he needs to. His problem is there are no takers. Who knows, if Canelo comes up, beats Cotto, there's a perfect fight for him.
