I think that the refs should let guys fight out of the clinch more. There is a skill to fighting inside, and some of that comes from maneuvering a guy into certain position through the clinch. The issue is that guys tie a fighter up and both just wait for the ref to break them. Watch John Ruiz, a notorious clincher, fight James Toney. James was the first guy I saw who didn't whine to the ref or just sit in the clinch with Ruiz and he would punish him inside. Watch old school fighters everyone says are ATGs like Robinson and Duran. They would clinch in close much like Ward and a Hopkins today. There is a skill involved when done correctly.
