I'd like to know what the fine print says both in contracts signed and what the NSAC says in its own rule book.
If its up to the fighter then spell it out instead of causing another shit storm. If they can bring any glove universally approved then why is Maidana not bringing cleto reyes? Was it the Cleto Reyes factory that made these Everlasts? Whats the deal with these everlasts are they magic or are they a cleverly hidden pair of cleto reyes? This glove gate seems easily solved. I kind of blame the NSAC for dropping the ball in the first installment. You would think that boxing gloves would be the first priority to nail down in any fight let alone one at this level. Its actually daft to once again be in this comedy skit again. Its not even a deflection. Its an illustration of incompetence shared jointly by all parties. At least we all knew from the start that Leonard got glove choice with Hagler because it was part of the contract and public knowledge.

This fight has gone stupid. The dual belts, the glove weight 8 or 10 and now this and Maidana is now threatening to walk.

Everlast is the biggest and most clumsiest of the brands... it's real old school.

Me, personally, I prefer the Reyes. After that I'd do the TKO's. Can't stand the Everlast or Grant's... too big, too clumsy, and they slide all around your wrist and hand.

I think that's what the problem is here. Not sure why people keep comparing these Everlasts to the Everlasts that are usually worn in fights. They are not the same gloves. If they were we would not be having this problem. And again I cant believe that we are here again after the last circus but I suppose they figured it got under Floyds skin the first time which again begs the question is there are glove contract?

My guess is that there is, otherwise why would Maidana not be wearing Reyes? I believe they are trying to get Reyes gloves in with an Everlast decal on them and wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Everlasts are produced in the Reyes factory in Mexico. This would be in line with the concerns over the padding and direction in the first fight. It was designed to work its way toward the wrists and not stay around the knuckles. To attempt the same thing as last time is weak and its not going to sell more tickets. Its going to turn people off.

Its already compounded by the fact that both titles are on the line. They have not yet announced whether are using 8's or 10's.

Even though the fights are sanctioned by the NSAC, floyd waits till this late date to pull these little BS things with money as leverage. Even if the NSAC said the gloves are legal, floyd will suddenly trip and fall in the dressing room and hurt himself in front of no witnesses... fights off. The opponents (Chino in this case) know that if they want their check and they don't want 3 months of training to go to $hit, they have to concede...

B*tch Move... People should boycott this fight on PPV. The challenger usually gets a fixed amount as long as he fights. Its guys like floyd that get percentages of PPV, gate, etc. So Maidana should get all the money he was promised and floyd gets less than he is expecting for playing these games.

Can we get 50 cent a seat near floyds corner? It would be hilarious to see Chino mandate the fight be for belts and a library card at the weigh in ..or final press conference.

Like, how much more cusion do they have actually?
I wouldn't think there could be but a certain degree of variation in the gloves available for use in pro fights. Please, someone educate me.
