Okaaaaayyyyy....... so this has taken a turn into the ridiculous.
Let's recap.
First video (outside elevator) comes out, and the NFL (Goodell) responds by suspending Rice for two games. He catches hell from all sectors of society.... goes on TV publicly saying he got it wrong, and passes stricter domestic violence rules whereby a first offense is punishable by a 6-game suspension, and a second offense carries a lifetime ban. It doesn't apply to Rice, 'cause he's already been given his two-game suspension.
Second video comes out, released by TMZ Sports... and immediately the Baltimore Ravens release Ray Rice. The NFL follows suit by suspending Rice indefinitely. So he's gone.
But hold on! NOW..... the head of the National Organization for Women is calling on Goodell to RESIGN, based on the claim that he must've seen the video before, and/or the NFL didn't do all that was in their power to obtain the second video. They're investigating whether the NFL had the video already and have lied about having seen it.
Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?
When is this circus going to stop?? The offender is banished from football. The commissioner admitted he handled the situation wrong, and changed its rules. The message is now clear. The NFL will not tolerate domestic abuse among its players. So leave the situation the fuck alone. Why continue the witch hunt?
Goodell, while not perfect, has done a lot of good things for the sport of football. He's hands-on, and is focused on maintaining the integrity and popularity of the sport. What possible benefit will we get now by yielding to some misdirected wench and forcing out someone who has done a good job for the game? What IS Goodell's job, after all? Is it ruling over a sport, guarding its rules and principles and making it better? Or is it catering to every special interest group in society and every whim from a committee head with an agenda?
If this ends in a Goodell resignation, we're really in a world of shit.
