How would Luis Ortiz do against other good heavyweights?

There are a lot of interesting matchups that could be made at heavyweight, if only the promoters and TV networks were willing.

Luis Ortiz appears to be a bona fide top ten HW and he could be in interesting, competitive matchups with people like Povetkin, Jennings, Wilder, Perez, and Fury.

Have seen him one time dispatch a bum... he took some time to do that... but that was some while ago... he appears to be the typical Cuban born Heavyweight- good boxer, a little lazy and lacks true power at that weight.

He can be more effective as a cruiser weight or a LH- but he probably can't get down to that.

I want to see Ortiz in the ring again ASAP, Kayode is not a total bum and Ortiz had his number from the get go. It really wasn't much of a contest, Kayode should think about dropping down in weight.

I think he has the faster more educated hands with legitimate stopping power of all the guys listed frankly. He punches thru a target, in combination for the most part. Hopefully winning the interim belt will mean something and he'll dethrone Chagaev

As for Ortiz, he's 35, yet to fight anyone with a pulse unless you count 'Smokin' Bert Cooper in fucking 2011!!!! He's waited too long to be anyone in the division. Ortiz will not fair well vs the top 20 to 30 heavyweights IMO

Is Ortiz-Chagaev next? For the regular, interim, world, super duper whatever

I've only seen Ortiz twice. Against Kayode & Barrett. Seems to be a very solid heavyweight. Good size, punching power and on top of that a southpaw. I would favor him over Chagaev and a few other guys. I need to see a bit more before I proclaim him to be a top 5 (talent wise) heavy. At 35, he's got no time to dick around.

I know I'm stating the obvious here but Kayode needs to move back down to cruiser or at least target smaller heavyweights. He was never the most skilled guy around. He won fights with his size and physicality. At heavyweight, those advantages are negated. If he sticks around with the big boys...he'll be up a creek without a paddle

Typical Cuban heavyweight.... that is all... Jorge Luis Gonzalez looked good too. Until he ran into the guy he beat in the Amateurs- Riddick Bowe. And we see how that turned out. By far my BEST ass-kicking EVER.

Riddick kicked that man's ass all around the ring. What was so good about it was Gonzalez was game, had a decent chin, but just was not at Bowe's level the way he said he was or would be. He just got his ass kicked and summarily dispatched.

I don't know the name of anyone who followed Gonzalez coming up and mistook him for 'good'. No way, no how. He was the quintessential hype job riding amateur fame onto PPV cards way too prematurely. Honestly the only solid thing he has in common with Ortiz is being from Cuba Ortiz actually has a defense with high shoulders, the hand speed and combinations are far different levels and Gonzalez sat around as stiff as a board coasting, posing and looking for counters other than that jab. You literally could not miss Gonzalez and everyone from a 40 yr old Snipes to Scott bounced punches off his pumpkin head before Bowe tuned him up.

Ortiz is 35, and will indeed step up comp now being mandatory and I think he can turn a few of the heavily hyped guys on their head.

Seen it all before.... fro Gonzalez, to Solis, to Castillo, to Perez, to now Luis- all the same guy, all the same mentality. They don't have it, and I am not sold on Luis Ortiz.
