Yeah, people dog modern guys who hold, clinch, and foul but guys like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson did that shit all time.

    I Blame The Referee's,

Who were all in Muhammad's 'corner', or were in fear of later retaliation.

All were afraid to penalize him a point, in fear of being called a 'racist'.

    In my Book,

Joe Frazier wins the 2nd-bout, by way of Points. I could count at least 7-Times
where 'Clutching Cassius' should have been penalized.

Yep, Ali's tactics in the 2nd Frazier fight turned the fight into pure $#!t...

...and one of the worst refs in Boxing history, tony perez, did nothing about it!

    Correcto Mundo,

    January 1974

Joe Frazier earns a 12-Round Unanimous Decision over 'Clutching Cassius' who
is correctly penalized 7-Points for incessant holding and fouling.

Cassius drops to #3 in the Heavyweight Rankings.

    Joe Frazier moves to #1.

Ken Norton stays at #2, despite getting KO'd in 2 by George Foreman.

Cassius is now nicknamed 'The Clutch' by the Press.

Liberace reclaims the moniker 'The Greatest'.

That's true! I think the average boxing fan of today is more knowledgable or, at least, wants to see a level playing field.
I think most of the excessive holding is do to piss poor refereeing. Ali used to hit and hold, hit and hold round after round and it did make me mad but I'd be just as disgusted with the referee.
Boxing is a brutal sport and protecting yourself by holding is something we have to put up with to a point. It's the referees job to hold it to an acceptable level.
Yes, Ali should have lost plenty of points for holding and I blame the referees for not taking them.

I just don't see Clay as the best HW ever , let alone best fighter ever. I didn't care for his style at all.

Forget you all. Ali is the greatest. You are all fools for agreeing with Bill. That alone tells you you are deluded.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

One of the dirtiest of his era. Like watching the garbage Floyd got away with against Hatton in every other fight but not even in the top 50 ever.
