BCBUD you are talking about punching in the sense of a push/falling to achieve weight transfer, pulling the punch to where it is going is how scrap is saying you should punch.
When you can pull a punch into its target using good biomechanics and sound bone allignment you have found a way to punch harder and with more control.
You dont have to take a step to transfer weight onto a leg just bend the knee that u want the weight to be on? Job done. Weight transfered, and your still of a sound gait to move in any direction if needs be.
You also dont want to do exagerated weight transfers while punching because you usually land with the weight on the heel which is bad for mobility aswell as killing some power in ur shots.
