Jack Johnson
Champ from1908 until 1915
Weight 190-225
Height 6 feet 1 inch
Reach 75 inches
Style. Unorthodox and more defense based then offensive. A counter puncher really who was more inclined to frustrate and move out of the way while letting his opponent punch himself out or tire.
Slapped a lot and knew how to grapple. Fought open handed much of the time. Not really a straight puncher. Not long on power but not short on it either
My knocks on the guy.
Never fought a legitimate black challenger when he was champ.
Threw Langford under the bus when it mattered most.
Lost to the flailing Willard who had been boxing for about two years and started at age 27
George Foreman (1970's version)
Champ from 1973 until 1974
Retired for 10 years in 1977
Weight 215-225
Height 6 feet 3 inches
Reach 79 inches ( he is listed from 78 to 82 depending on the source}
Style. A slugger/brawler really. More offensive minded then defensive. Bit of a bull in a china shop. His objective to overwhelm and club his opponent out in short order and not go into the later rounds. Like Jack, a little slap happy and also carried his hands open. Not a straight puncher either and at his physical prime short on skill but long on power.
My knocks on the guy.
Made a name for himself beating up a perfect opponent for him in Frazier.
Never did much more then that in his prime years.
As big an urban legend as any pioneer is looked at as being.
In the end I think Foremans style would play right into Johnsons hands. However Foreman could Willard him.
My advice,![]()
Foreman would clean his clock. 2 rounds tops.
Johnson was huge for his time.
Dempsey ducked Langford as well.
What if Johnson took it past 15 rounds against George?
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
So now once again after being kindly warned about it you have sullied the main board with this attention seeking crap. The whole @ notifications are now being massively abused as a means of goading people and trying to start fire wars. Even Walrus recently used the @ thing 7 times in one post to try and rope somebody into an argument. Then to top it all off you have the audacity and arrogance to publicly conduct a conversation between yourself and the alter ego you have created to discredit black people. What are you trying to achieve ? you are publicly rubbing the noses of the mods in it with such flagrant showboating. It ain't big and it certainly isn't clever. Grow up.
George Foreman {1973} ~ Age; 24 ~ 6' 3 1/2" ~ 222 lbs. ~ {78 1/2" Reach}
vs.
Jack Johnson {1907} ~ Age; 29 ~ 6' 1" ~ 200 lbs. ~ {74" Reach}
'Big George' by a Knockout in Round 4.
Computer calculates, Jack Johnon could not win here.
Jack was never hit so hard.

Besides being totally wrong there Beanz on 8 points (that the other person and I were seeking attention/that I had this conversation with myself/that the other person(s) and I were goading people with the @ sign/that we were trying to discredit black people/that we were publicly rubbing the noses of mods/that we were showboating/thinking it was clever/thinking it was big) you are way late on this as it has been privately discussed already.
You are at times the most presumptuous and judgemental person I have ever witnessed, and it definitely goes against you in peoples' eyes Beanz. I think you could grow up as well. Have you ever looked in the mirror at your own presumptuous narrow-minded conclusions? I think you should. You are the kind of guy I for one could never quite be good friends because of your preachy attitude. Honest. Who elected you Righteous Preacher? becasue that is how you consistently present yourself, and it is utterly ridiculous.
I am not going to say anything on the main board
@Greenbeanz, I'm flattered, I didn't know you were counting.
@walrus yes that is rather amazing
Hey Master delete the stretches in this thing would ya? Chop dem trees down.
Call it creative editing.
It is a pretty even fight though given the principles and their styles and abilities.
But hey if the 1970's George had the post Jimmy Young 1987 Georges boxing savvy, he'd be unstoppable.
