    George Foreman
    Evander Holyfield
    Ross Puritty
    Nic Valuev
    Wladimir Klitschko
    Vitali Klitschko
    LEnnox Lewis
    Samuel Peter
    Ray Mercer
    Shannon Briggs
    Anthony Joshua

    And on and on.

PRoblem is, is that most of these guys are on steroids.

I think special credit has to be given to George Foreman, as being possibly the physically strongest boxer in the pre-steroid era and in his 90's career I don't think he used them either. His 90's heavy strength training regime including weights, wood chopping and pulling jeeps on a tether was legendary.

Possibly the best image of his strength was in I think the first round of Foreman vs Morrison, where the steroid pumped, savage HW banger Tommy Morrison tried wrestling with George and with astonishing strength, big George launched the young roid head into the corner like a child.

    That was strength!

Steroids have been used for muscle growth since the 1930s. We have no idea who was on steroids. And I find it highly questionable that the heavyweight division exploded to what many consider its all time greatest right when steroids exploded in football yet people don't question boxing of the time.

Suddenly so many guys have super human strength to the point that 40 years later we talk about gatekeepers. Anyone who doesn't consider the possibility they were all on roids has their headin the sand.

I didn't know roids were present as far back as that but I do know the difference between a roided person and not.

It's obvious the 90's boxers were roided to the gills. Maybe some in the 80's too, Mike Tyson has been singled out because he physique does lend credence to it as well as his demeanor. No evidence has surfaced though but I wouldn't be surprised.

The 70's boxers were definitely not on them mainstream. They were some of the weakest boxers of all even despite being larger than previous generations. The "skinny+fat" combination is not a sign of PED's use.

Geroge Foreman was not even very strongly build by comparison to 90's boxers but he was possibly the most questionable example. It would not surprise me really if he was on them I guess.

Certainly his dose would have been FAR less than say Evander Holyfield's or Tommy Morrison's.

Bennie Briscoe. What about fire plugs like Bobby Czyz, Frankie Swindell. Some are just durable, rugged. Or guys with physicality and knew how to maul, shoulder you and fight ugly. Freddie Norwood. Uriah Grant? A Yori Boy Campas was like a bull but mentally he found his stool too comfortable quite a few times
