Re: Jones vs. Cormier... i couldn't hold it any longer!
Intriguing fight. I was curious how DC's boxing would matchup with Jone's varied striking attack and if DC's wrestling would set the pace. Frankly I was pretty disappointed with DC. He had success with his boxing in spurts but failed to keep the adequate pressure and pace to really win rounds with it. His corner was saying as much. Furthermore he didn't really ever commit to getting a takedown. I assumed DC's HW experience would nullify much of Jone's superior athleticism and length but it was pretty clear he was the better athlete and his length caused issues for DC. I've always felt that Jones lack of head movement made him to easy to hit....even going back to the Bonnar fight, I thought Stephan (a mid tier fighter) was all to able to connect with Jones. That being said he shook off everything DC connected on. I gave DC the 2nd but everything else was Jones. He really wore him down over the last two rounds.
