It's all been held up waiting for Haymon's various TV contracts to start and Mayweather fannying about. These two things have delayed negotiations for just about every big fight going. Other than the Golovkin fight which isn't going to be much or the Fury fight which is the same thing there are basically three empty weekends before any decent fights on the telly.
Once Floyd decides who he's going to fight the schedule should start filling up but there's basically been Wilder-Stiverne and Rios-Alvarado so far this year, both of which were underwhelming to say the least.
How bad must boxing be if we want to see Shavers make a comeback?
GGG on channel 5 free TV is good to see.

Showtime's Super Six Tournament proved that. Next to no one in America even remembers it-bar a few Ward fans. Kudos to Showtime for pitting the best SMW's on earth together. They tried.
Froch & Kessler fans seemed to revel in it, while American fans poo-pood on how long it took. Jeesh, who else was there worth fighting? We now know Bute would've been blitzed & America's backups of Green & Johnson diluted the skilled pool of talent.
If Super-six couldn't excite America, I really don't know what would. P.S. The Super-Six tourney I went to- 1/2 the arena was empty- I got 8th row a week before the fight.
A big fight is a big fight. But the fact is that most of them are in America. I don't think Fury's upcoming fight against some German is a big fight, it's a typical Warren fight where Fury is the overwhelming favourite. The last big fight in England was probably Froch-Groves. There are tons of appearance-type fights and uncompetitive fights in America too, but the vast majority of the relatively competitive fights involving beltholders are in America.
If there were plenty of entertaining or competitive fights in England or Europe featuring our beltholders I would pay more attention to fights over here.
Slow times indeed. Right now we're watching 44 yr old Grady Brewer get pummeled from last weekend![]()
I cannot say I am enthralled about a Tyson Fury fight against whoever, but it does seem there is some boxing if only one will be a little patient. America has most of the big fights and it fits into my lunchtime schedule, so I enjoy watching those cards more. There is nothing worse than getting up at 6am to see a British stoppage. Let them finish it properly!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, boxing is being killed off as a sport by American football, Basketball and European soccer. Top athletes can earn mega bucks from these sports without having the precarious lifestyle relying on scumbag boxing promoters like Warren etc..
I reckon its a fair bet that the Bolton Wanderers left back (no offence) has earned more in his sporting lifetime than Fury or Wilder, AND its guaranteed money every week!
If you're a star athlete in high school who is an outstanding football player and a champion amateur boxer and you get offered a scholarship at a college to play football then you're going to take the scholarship every time. You might never make the NFL but you're guaranteed a career as a physical education teacher. Only a small handful of people make more from boxing than they would with a teacher's salary and almost every single one of them blows it anyway.
