I'm embarrassed to say I never saw that. Everyone talks about Gatti-Ward round 9. This was a great one as well.

It was before my time as well but makes me admire Holmes more. He fought some top and under rated fighters and left it all in the ring. No easy way out.

Some of those guys were not top rated. He fought a Berbick when Berbick had to go the distance with a brain dead Ali after Holmes had made Ali quit.

Face it, Holmes's list of contenders was suspect. He may had have two, maybe three good fights before he got to Spinks and lost the title. One of those guys was Witherspoon, another was a young Carl Williams and an inexperienced Bonecrusher (throw Shavers in there as well, I would give him that one). All of whom he had major trouble with, especially Williams and Witherspoon and Crusher had cut and had to quit.
