At first look I thought "Oh, Ovi was going for a slapshot and Letang skated in front of him"...after the replays there's no denying he slashed the shit out of him. And what started it?

Getslaf called him out pretty good a few days ago for diving. Hopefully the post-game fines for diving will put an end to that shit. That kind of thing belongs on the soccer field, not in a real manly game.

The only reason diving is tolerated in soccer is because there's no fighting in soccer. In a full contact game like hockey that's played 100 mph, those players that dive will get their comeuppance one way or another.

Yeah he's not challenging for the HW title any time soon. To his credit though, Dubinsky is probably the biggest and most experienced guy he's fought so far and he managed to get a right hand in so good for him. Usually he fights other smaller skill guys. At least he's not a Wayne Gretzky or worse, an Alexander Semin

I mean props to Sid for dropping the gloves, but Letang is out already, the playoffs are coming up, you can't risk yourself as leader/leading scorer like that. Gretzky never had to fight, he had Semenko, McClelland, and McSorely...but that's when hockey was a far rougher game than it is today.

Ever learn anything about the old timers? Eddie Shore was the Ty Cobb of hockey...tough, gritty, pure hustle the entire time he was on the ice.

I don't know if his hatred of blacks, women, and everyone else could match Cobb's though haha

And yeah Sid shouldn't be fighting, but it's got to be tough on him. When you're the star player for the other team, everyone's going to be taking runs at your and giving you whacks with the stick. It's not like the old days with the enforcers like you said. Sid's dad said once that guys have been taking runs at him since he was a kid playing peewee hockey, because he was always the best player on the ice.
