Mayweather and Pacquiao blowing the opportunity to fight each other in their primes.
To elaborate, the moment is lost. From about the time PacMan defeated ODLH to approximately when he first faced Timothy Bradley, we had something really special on our hands: 2 all-time greats in the same weight division and at the red-hot primes of their careers. This never happened.
It's as if we are going straight to Leonard-Hearns II without having a I. Alternatively, if one views PBF as still in his red-hot prime (a reasonable opinion, but not one I hold) we have something closer to Tyson-Holmes. I mean, 2 red hot prime fighters in the same weight class and at this skill level is something very rare. Even Leonard-Duran doesn't quite qualify (Duran peaked at Lightweight). Ali-Frazier probably does, but even then we could quibble about Ali (he peaked before his Vietnam controversy).
I'll watch the fight of course, but I'm terribly disappointed.
