America already has net neutrality and the government already regulates the internet. Net neutrality just means that the telecom companies can't run a two or three speed internet and let established companies prevent new ones from entering the marketplace. If there hadn't been net neutrality when the internet first started you'd be getting your news and entertainment from yahoo and lycos would be your search engine.

Here's former Daily Show Senior British correspondent John Oliver, who now has his own weekly Daily Show on HBO, explaining net neutrality.

Ah yes...The Daily Show, what fair balanced "reporting" they do. Would not have it any other way than you to be against me in this debate.....is there EVER a time where you say "There certainly are TOO MANY government regulations"? Is that possible for you to admit? And HBO....really....really.....although Bill Maher has come around to a rational thought process regarding Islam and it's role in global terrorism, but alas he's still very VERY left leaning as I am sure John Oliver is seeing how he A) Used to be on The Daily Show and B ) Is British....thereby making him pretty much on par with Vladimir Lenin

The government has regulated the internet every day you've been on in. This isn't about government regulation, it's about preventing the telecom companies making even more money at the expense of consumer choice. When you talk about "government regulation of the internet" you're just parroting the telecom lobby's pr talking points.

Oh alrighty allow me to retort....you're laying the argument before us that the Internet is already regulated to an extent and has been from day one. Well SIR if that's the case then why is more regulation needed? Secondly, if you're asking consumers to choose between who they want to provide a service to them ISP's or The Government who the holy fuck do you think the average person would pick to run things? THE ISP's why? Because they are easily held accountable for their bullshit via the power of the purse AND so long as there is not 1 single ISP competition will drive low costs and better service.....has the government ever EVER done that?

    .....and drop the mic

Watch the video. It'll answer your questions. If you don't think it did watch it again.

Also, too. The best argument the telecom/GOP can come up with is if the US internet is going to be regulated like a utility by Obama, as it is in every other major economy in the world, then America's internet speed will somehow become as slow as Europe's.

    Look.

Download Speed by Country | Net Index from Ookla

So their best argument is a bullshit argument.

Kirkland could I have a video with MORE sarcasm, I mean this video is like one of those Push Up ice creams you get in the summertime at your local pool, only instead of a nice Orange sherbet flavor you get a lovely Pond Scum flavor, this video needed sarcasm and LOTS OF IT! The sarcasm was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. It's like a giant black hole opened up and swallowed all the sarcasm and crushed it into a singularity. If the video had ANY sarcasm in it whatsoever it would have been a marvel of television written by a horde of black horn rimmed glasses wearing Ivy league twats who disdain any opposition to their views let alone any debate on said views...I MEAN REALLY! Also it would be great if an audience of trained clapping seals was in attendance to boost the ego of the man with the British accent, sure those seals have a trifling understanding of what's going on other than to clap when the applause light comes on, but they really do help sell a point....and all that with NO sarcasm at all, NONE!!!!

Now there was 1 line Mr. Oliver said that stuck with me....
"If you want to do something evil, put it inside something boring" John Oliver, from your video

    Point #1
FCC chief pressed to release net neutrality rules

    Point #2

    Point #3

    Point #4

.......but you go RIIIIIIIGHT ahead Kirkland, you know what's best but it won't be long before

you get your own little sarcastic retort about this legislation IF it passes....so there's that

Yup, but bullshit is on their menu.
before 2010, it was a do-nothing Democratic Congress, but now that Republicans run it-Well the most they can do is hold hearings: the very thing republicans stated when they lost Congress in 2006, that America was going to watch Democrats do nothing but hold hearings.
Well that time has passed and all we see from Congress is hearing or drafts, but nothing tangible.

Even more interesting is that this is something akin to the Telecommunications Act of 1996. All I hear is that A Democrat was president when it was signed. But not who presented the Telecommunications Act of 1996- I think it was uh....aww shit wait.. Larry pressly aka Republican.

yet this business sounding discussion has once again turned political aka partisan and its all those damn democrats at fault. And that damn Obama. Skip the fact this ball was rolling before he came into the office. But I guess he is going to aid in taking America's freedom of the net like Youtube created by 3 average guys...what a great thing...oh wait...Google bought them
or what a guy Mr.Zuckerberg with the American dream creating facebook, wait, who owns it now?
Damn and what about the carriers? MCI Sprint? these aren't mom & pop shops, the mutha suckas who are running the net, give us a freedom to send, but damn, they share all our personal shit.

Ever heard of Beenverified.com? type that shit up and put in Floyd mayweather- it will list his next relatives. Shit did it to me. So there IMO is a huge compromise in this freedom of the net. yeah we use it, but it is being used against us. And we don't control it like we think we do.

I know I see it a bit different than you, but I respect how you break it down. In the end, my government wants to pit people against each other -against the prez- meanwhile they are stroking the dicks of those people who will benefit from this so-called net neutrality.

yet a Republican controlled congress claim all they can do is whine, cry, hold hearing and blame shit.
Well damn next time get a real candidate instead of Romey and they wont have to blame Obama or Clinton II
