I think weight training must have something to do with a slight loss and stamina. I know it increases power. George Foreman and Rocky Marciano never lifted weights that I ever read. And it seems like Mike Tyson started to lose some of his stamina when he started lifting weights later on in his career.

I could quickly shoot down any argument against weight training by pointing out every fighter runs. Running uses body "weight".

But to keep from being a dick if I can.
You body has systems, you have to actively train each system. You can do anaerobic exercises and you will be more fit and perform better in bursts. You can do aerobic exercises and be better for duration at a slow pace.

Boxing is a combination of both properties. It is at a fast pace(anaerobic) and longer duration(aerobic). So you need to train both systems because the body recovers and proceeds at each property differently. Aerobic uses oxygen and anaerobic uses different electron acceptors while still using a respiratory electron transport chain.

It quite simply is not about lifting weights, it's about how you lift weights. If you train your body to do something and then do something completely different your body doesn't know how to excel.
