Yes because Joe Louis fought exactly like Karl Mildenberger.
I think that was the point @Master..

That he would have been in deep water against Louis if he struggled so badly with featherfist cruiser Mildenberger.

I don't agree. I mean the best Joe Louis might have beaten the young 60's "PRIME" if you will Clay. But Louis could not have beaten the stronger 70's version no way.

Imo even the young Clay, up on his toes running around, would have done a paint job on stiff necked, concrete boots Louis.
You do not see the bigger point do you?

Styles make fights and a slick southpaw causes Ali some minor problems more than a pedestrian orthodox fighter. Either way Ali wins.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

    Yeah I agree with that.

Southpaws usually make the more difficult opponents. True!

Cudos to Ali for overcoming his Southpaw adversary. He fought all comers (unlike some of my favourites like Lewis or Tyson)... Respect!
"Enough with the games mate! Your messing with the Grand Master!"

    Champion - Cassius Clay

"I hurt my right-hand in Round 3 {2:03 Mark}, when I caught him in the jaw. I think I may
have broke it. That is why I couldn't get him out of there."

He's very tricky. He gave me a lot of angles, and he comes in with an awkward rush. It was
a good fight. He deserves a rematch."

"Mildenberger hit me more than anybody else has. He's much better than I thought."

"I lost to '2' southpaw in the Amateurs. Both Amos Johnson and Johnny Hamilton beat me.
They were very difficult to figure out."

"Mildenberger hurt me '4-Times' in the bout. He hurt me 'twice' in the 3rd-Round, and I
actually saw 'stars'. In Round 9 > he caught me with a good right-hook to the chin at the
{1:20 Mark} that backed me up into the corner."

"He also hit me with a good body punch in Round 10 {0:48 Mark}, and it felt like a knife going
through my sides. He caught me good with that straight left-hand."
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Joe Louis >

"At first I thought that Mildenberger would be lucky to last a couple of Rounds. But he
got better in Training, and I figured that he would make it thru 10 Rounds."

"Mildenberg won a couple of Rounds solidly, and won a few other by a razor's edge. He
    surprised a lot of people."

"The Challenger was determined, and showed tremendous courage. He fought a good fight,
and he shook up Clay 'two times' with good punches."

    Max Schmeling >

"Karl was out-classed at the end, but he exhibited great determination."

"I thought that Karl fought very hard, especially in Rounds 2 and 11 which he
    dominated and won."

"Karl proved that he belonged in the Ring with the Champion. 'Milde' was competitive
in every Round, except for the 6th."

"Karl did make the bout close, and he hung in there, even when he was getting a
beating. He has nothing to be ashamed off. He put up a good fight."

"I thought that 'Milde' gave everything he had. He left nothing in the dressing room."

    "Clay is good."

Comparison between Joe Louis and Cassius Clay >

"On his best day, Joe beats Clay everytime. Joe hit too hard, and was fast while in close."

    Karl Mildenberger >

"It was a good contest. I think I showed everybody out there on the 'Formula'
    to beat Clay."

"I had blurred vision in my left-eye from the 8th Round and on. The blood from
the cut kept getting in my eye. That's why I took so many punches in the end.
I really had trouble seeing his punches coming in."

"He did hurt me several times with his right-hand, but I new where I was and
    recovered quickly."

"I thought that the Referee {Teddy Waltham} was a bit quick in his stoppage. I
could have gone on. I was 'stunned' for a second, but my head cleared."

"Sure I'd like a rematch. As soon as my cuts heal, I'll be back in the Gym. Clay
knows that he was in a fight here."
