What time will this fight be on and will it clash with the Lee fight? I think the card looks really good and Salido v Martinez should be a war. Love to catch it in a bar before or after the Lee Quillin fight

Not PPV material, I agree. I'm only going 'cause I got some free tickets.
Should be a pretty good boxing card all around, though.

Haven't been to a live boxing event in awhile, so I'm kinda excited. Supposedly there's 9 fights in all, so I'll try to be there early and catch all the action. A group of us are going, and we'll probably get dinner and a few drinks at this pub just across the street from the venue. That, and a pair of binoculars for the ring girls... and we should be all set.

I've heard Puerto Rico is a terrific place to catch a fight. Have a good time.

This isn't a PPV like a Floyd fight, it's an independent PPV because it wasn't picked up by HBO or Showtime etc.

Martinez-Salido should be an action-packed fight and possibly the best fight of the night, including the fights in NY. Salido crushed Puerto Rican boxing fans' hearts when he stopped JuanMa twice. Martinez has a chance at winning one back for the island. I bet there will be real boxing energy there.

Hey thanks, Rant. Should be a fun-filled evening for sure. The place where it's being held, Coliseo de Puerto Rico, is a nice place. It's got some good pubs around for hanging out before and after the fight. But for boxing it's a bit too big for my taste. I've attended boxing events at other venues, such as the Roberto Clemente Colisseum and, although smaller and older, it's perfectly sized for boxing. No bad seats there. Still... we got some box seats, so it should be great.

Of course we're all rooting for Martinez. But Martinez is probably a big underdog in this one. He's got the heart of a lion, but he's a bit slow of hands, and has also been in some pretty good wars himself. It will be a slugfest for sure, as neither guy is a master of defense. Let's see whether Rocky can pull it off. The rest of the card should be pretty good also.

Having been to several fight events on the island, I can attest to the crowd's energy. We love our boxing here, just like I imagine the crowds in the UK and elsewhere with great boxing traditions.

Not keen on this fight myself, Martinez doesn't impress me and Salido is the dirtiest piece of shit in boxing these days. He literally throws combinations to the nuts and doesn't even get warned for it. I'm not sure he'd still be relevant without the tactic either. If he does it here I hope Martinez just tackles him and bites his ear off or something.

As a stacked 'local' card and promotion why not try. Did any network show interest in this one? Frankly I wouldn't pay a faded five dollar bill to see Salido again but its a decent card.

It'll be an Integrated Sports Network production, the broadcast outfit for sports bars, degenerate gamblers and the tiny percentage of boxing fans who will just buy everything. Colonel Bob will be doing the commentating and will be talking about the kill zone all night.

I think it's a 50-50 fight. Salido has been on the decline for awhile. He's a very old 34. He's been in several wars. Some against fighters who have no business taking him to war. In his last 10 fights Salido has gone 8-2. But he's been dropped 12 times. His punch resistance has left him. But he usually always gets up. So the heart is still there. Salido holds wins over Juan Manuel Lopez x2, the Fag Orlando Cruz, Carlos Gerena and Omar Adorno. He has no problem making boricuas his bitches.

Martinez has heart and can punch. But really he's not that good of a fighter. He has 2 losses officially on his record. But anybody that has followed his career knows he should really have 6. Juan Carlos Burgos, Diego Magdaleno, Francisco Lorenzo and Miguel Beltran all deserved W's against him

Martinez is not that good.... what a news flash. I've been saying as much for years. However, what else to expect from you but to say his four SD wins should have been losses. His win against Beltran was in Nevada... so you can't claim hometown advantage on that one. And yes... Salido's 34. And Martinez is a pretty worn 32. So what? They've both been in some wars. As for Salido's wins... yeah... he's beaten some ready good P.R. fighters. The great Omar Adorno, who finished all of 16-10-1 with 6 KO losses. Future HOF'er, that one. Gerena? He lost a majority decision to Salido, in Texas, to boot. Should I claim Gerena was robbed and should've won that one? The others are Lopez, his true wins.... and a Cruz who had no business in there in the first place. Who's gonna win Saturday night? Yeah... the only thing I agree on it's a 50/50 fight.

    Well..... I'm off!!

Four of us making the 45-minute trek to the Coliseo de Puerto Rico to take in all the festivities.
Preceeded, of course, by a couple of hours of eating and drinking.

    May the fights begin!
