I always thought that Witter suffered from Herol Graham syndrome. He came out of the Wincobank gym in Sheffield, so never got the TV coverage and media attention as London or other big city fighters.

He was very awkward and hard to look good against, but despite being somewhat negative in the ring, he was hugely avoided. Ricky Hatton wanted no part of him, and I still think that Witter would have given Hatton fits.

Here he is now fighting meaningless fights at 40+. Just think how different his career and life would have been had he secured that Hatton fight, or had he managed to get in the ring with the other big names of 10 to 15 years ago.

one problem with Witter was that he just wasnt such a likeable charactor

dont get me wrong, id probly look a dick talking on tv so im not slagging him on purpose, but some people are good at it and some arent and witter just generally wasnt

that along with his not so entertaining style and his clowning about in the ring really did him no favours

his biggest moment was his defeat to judah early in his carear, he seemed to get more respect and gain more popularity with that fight than winning the world title

I hope that Kid Galahad and Kell Brooks do not end up like Witter missing the big domestic fights.
