    Pre-Fight Analysis

    Gil Clancy >

I've seen Deuk-Koo Kim in training here in Las Vegas. He's a lot tougher than anyone can imagine. He never
stops coming forward. He's going to be a lot of trouble for Mancini today.

I would suggest for Ray to stay outside and box, and to use his left-jab on this southpaw to set up the lead
right-hand. If Ray slugs with this kid, he's going to get roughed up. Deuk-Koo has one hell of a left-hand
    lead.

    Ray Mancini vs. Deuk-Koo Kim

    The Bout

    Round 1
Action-packed and fast-paced. Ray had the slight-edge over the first-half of the Round.
But Deuk-Koo had a tremendous last 1-Minute of the session, as he caught Ray with
numerous left-hand leads to the chin.

    {10-9} > Deuk-Koo Kim

    Round 2
Another fast-paced Round. Ray was landing with more punches, but Deuk-Koo was banging
back hard. Ray had a slightly higher work-rate and edged out the session.

    {10-9} > Ray Mancini

    Round 3
Again, fast-paced with both fighters punching with a relentless attack. Ray shook Deuk-Koo
up early, but the tough Challenger came charging back with a blistering attack. Deuk-Koo's
late-rally over the second-half of the session made the Round even.

    {10-10} > 'Even'

    Round 4
Ray was more accurate and busier in this session. While in close, it was Ray who landed with
the cleaner and more punches. Deuk-Koo again came back with a late-Round rally, but he was
not able to score as effectively.

    {10-9} > Ray Mancini

    Round 5
Ray switched up and targeted the body of the Challenger. The tactic worked, as Ray out-punched
Deuk-Koo on the inside, and slowed him down. Deuk-Koo looked a bit worn down at the end of
    the Round.

    {10-9} > Ray Mancini

    Round 6

Ray hurt Deuk-Koo early, and had him on the front Ropes. Ray out-slugged Deuk-Koo up to the
{1:50 Mark}, when Deuk-Koo shook up Ray and battered him into the back-left Corner. But Ray
recovered, and railed late with another good body attack. Ray's late rally just edged out the Round.

    {10-9} > Ray Mancini

    Round 7
The pace was slower here, and Deuk-Koo was able to gain an advantage at this pace over the
first-half of the session. Ray mounted a minor attack during the second-half of the session, until the
last 20-Seconds, when Deuk-Koo scored with a good barrage.

    {10-9} > Deuk-Koo Kim

    Round 8
Deuk-Koo came out by using a different style, of moving and boxing. Ray pursued, and held a slight-edge
throughout the Round until the last 20-Seconds, when Deuk-Koo exploded with a volley of solid punches
to both the head-and body that rocked Ray.

    {10-9} > Deuk-Koo Kim

    Round 9
Deuk-Koo came out aggressively, and took it right to Ray, backing him up and hitting him throughout the
first-half of the session. Ray made a good effort just past the mid-way point in the session, when he rallied
with several good body punches that bothered the Challenger. But, Deuk-Koo put together another late-charge
and took the Round with some solid punches over the last 20-Seconds.

    {10-9} > Deuk-Koo Kim

    Round 10

Both fighters came out aggressively, and immediately traded with heavy-exchanges. Deuk-Koo was showing
a bad bruise and swelling high up on the left-side of his face, between his left ear and left-eye.

At the {0:12 Mark} CBS Boxing Announcer Tim Ryan says >
"This bout is 'dead' even on our scorecards. This bout is very close."

The fighters get into a 'good exchange' at the {0:28 Mark}, and then get into a clinch. While in the clinch,
Deuk-Koo hits Ray on the top of his head with his right-glove at the {0:31 Mark}.

Immediately, Referee - Richard Greene penalizes Deuk-Koo {1-Point}. Deuk-Koo apologizes to Ray, and
sticks out both gloves in a sportsmanlike gesture before the action resumes.

Ray then turns it on at the {0:40 Mark}., and hammers Deuk-Koo with a steady body-assault of lefts and
rights for the next 1-Minute plus.

Ray is in command during the middle of the session, and Deuk-Koo is starting to get worn down.

But again, a 'game' Deuk-Koo puts forth a late-rally, and scores with a few good left-hands.

    {10-8} > Ray Mancini

    Ray Mancini vs. Deuk-Koo Kim

    Round 11

Deuk-Koo came out aggressively, and was met by Ray at Center-Ring. Both fighters worked at
    a steady-rate.

Deuk-Koo had the edge over the first 25-Seonds, before the fighters clinched at the {0:25 Mark}.

Each fought aggressively for the next 14-Seconds, before clinching again at the {0:39 Mark}.

Ray then had the edge for the next trading-session, before the fighters clinched again at the {0:53 Mark}.

At the {1:05 Mark} Deuk-Koo came forward in attempt to throw a left-hand, just as Ray was winging in
    a right-hook. The punch 'grazed' off of Deuk-Koo's upper-chest.

Deuk-Koo went down to his left-knee at the {1:06 Mark}.

But Deuk-Koo bounced right back up and continued. Referee - Richard Greene did not call it
    a knockdown.

Ray then landed with a left-hook and solid right-hand to Deuk-Koo's head.

Immediately, Ray went to work on Deuk-Koo, and raked him over with a series of solid punches
for the next 15-Seconds as the South Korean was backed up into the front-center Ropes.

At the {1:23 Mark}, Ray landed a short right-hook into Deuk-Koo's body, which hurt the Challenger.

Ray then added in a jolting straight right-hand to the head, and a hard left-hook into Deuk-Koo's ribs.

Deuk-Koo buckles over from the body punch.

{1:25 Mark} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "Now he's got him. Now he's got Kim in trouble. Mancini is pounding him."

Deuk-Koo stumbles forward and then grabs Ray around his waist at the {1:28 Mark}.

Deuk-Koo held Ray for 9-Seconds until the {1:37 Mark}, where Referee - Richard Greene broke the
    fighters apart.

At the {1:38 Mark}, Ray steps in and fires away with a '7-Punch' barrage with Deuk-Koo on the front-center Ropes.

At the {1:42 Mark}, Deuk-Koo starts to punch back.

    At the {1:44 Mark} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "What a war here in the 11th."

Barely audible at the {1:46 Mark} > Gil Clancy > "This kid {Deuk-Koo Kim} is incredibly tough. Amazing."

At the {1:52 Mark} > Ray is arm-weary, and has no 'zip' left in his punches, as Deuk-Koo leans back on the front-center Ropes.

Deuk-Koo moves to his right, and over the front-right Corner.

At the {1:56 Mark} > Ray moves forward into Deuk-Koo, and leans in on him.

{2:00} > Both trade with light body-punches. Ray has 'nothing' left on his punches, as he tries to grab Deuk-Koo.

    {2:04} > Deuk-Koo slams in a hard left-uppercut into Ray's chin, and a left-hook into the mid-section as Mancini is trying to grab-and-hold.

{2:05} > Referee - Richard Greene moves in to separate the fighters.

{2:09} > Ray steps backwards, out to Center-Ring, as Deuk-Koo moves out to the front-center Ring area.

{2:11} > Deuk-Koo steps forward, and lands with a 'booming' left-hand to Ray's head. Ray reels back on his heels.

At the {2:12 Mark} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "Kim is punching back now."

{2:13} > Deuk-Koo moves forward, and fires in a quick 'right-left', as Ray tries to grab-and-hold the South Korean.

{2:14} > Ray Mancini is definitely 'stunned', and grabs at Deuk-Koo's arms and holds.

{2:15 > Deuk-Koo is trying to break free and tries to push Ray off him.

Then at the {2:16 Mark}, and inexplicably and without incident, Referee - Richard Greene
moves in to give Deuk-Koo a warning.

As Richard Greene admonishes Deuk-Koo, he pushes his back across the Ring to the left-side
    Ropes.

This gave Ray Mancini nearly {9-Seconds} to recover, and to clear his head.

The action resumed at left of Center-Ring at the {2:26 Mark}.

    {2:28} > Deuk-Koo scores with a '5-Punch' flurry, as Ray comes back with a 'weak' 4-Punch flurry.

{2:31} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "They wail away at each other."

{2:32} > Ray initiates a clinch, and holds on to Deuk-Koo's arms.

{2:34} Referee - Richard Greene moves in to break the fighters apart, but also tucks in the tape on Deuk-Koo's right glove.

    {2:39} > The action resumes.

    {2:39} > Deuk-Koo scores with a 'right-left' to Ray's head.

{2:40} > Ray steps forward, as Deuk-Koo backs up a step to the back-left Ring area.

At the {2:41 Mark} > Gil Clancy {CBS Announcer} > "Never mind how many Rounds it is. It's not how many
Rounds. It's the pace of the fight. The pace has been torrid. It's like a 30-Round fight."

At the {2:44 Mark} both fighters clinch, as Deuk-Koo is backed up to the left-side Ropes.

    {2:45} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "Kim shows signs of fatigue."

{2:47} > Referee - Richard Greene breaks the fighters apart.

{2:52} > Ray steps forward, and lands a good right-hook to the left-side of Deuk-Koo's head, and a short left to the body.

    {2:53} > Deuk-Koo comes back with a medium-power 'left-right'.

{2:55} > Both fighters clinch, as Ray pushes Deuk-Koo back into the left-side Ropes. Both fighters rest until the Bell.

    {3:00} > 'Bell'

    Round 11 ....... {10-10} 'Even'

My Vote for......... 'Round of the Year'

    Ray Mancini vs. Dek-Koo Kim

Between Rounds, Deuk-Koo Kim's chief cornerman was putting a towel around his fighter's head.
There were swelling area's on the side of each eye, near the temple area.

But, Dek-Koo was not breathing hard, and was eager to fight on.

    Round 12

At the Bell, Ray immediately 'bolted' from his corner to Center-Ring.

But, Referee - Richard Greene halted the bout, because there was an issue with the tape
    on Deuk-Koo's right glove.

There was a '33-Second' delay before both fighters came out to Center-Ring to wait for the Bell
    to start Round 12.

{0:05} > Deuk-Koo attacked first by firing in a wild 'left-right' which both missed.

{0:11} > Deuk-Koo attacked again with a 'left-right-left', but the punches only grazed Ray.

    {0:15} > The fighters 'clinch'.

{0:20} > Ray pecks away with light left-jabs from the outside.

{0:23} > Ray circles to his left, and is 'not' aggressive'.

    {0:25} > Deuk-Koo attacks with a 'left-right'.

    {0:28} > Ray counters with '2' left-jabs.

    {0:33} > Both fighters are at Center-Ring.

    {0:41} > Deuk-Koo scores with a 'left-right'.

    {0:50} > The fighters 'clinch'.

{0:53} > Deuk-Koo misses badly with a wild 'overhand-left' and 'right-hook', and stumbles past Ray towards the front-right Corner.

{0:55} > Ray moves in quickly, but misses with a big-sweeping right-hook as Deuk-Koo ducks.

{0:58} > Both fighters 'clinch', as Ray pushes Deuk-Koo into the front-right Corner.

{1:01} >Deuk-Koo slides to his right, and to the right-side Ropes and out of the Corner.

{1:00} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "Kim stumbles around. He is starting to show much more of the grueling pace."

{1:02} > Ray adds in a 'light' left-right as Deuk-Koo grabs at his shoulders, while leaning on the right-side Ropes.

{1:04} > Deuk-Koo shows his strength, and pushes Ray off him and out to Center-Ring.

    {1:08} > Deuk-Koo slams in a 'hard' left-hook.

{1:10} > Both fighters are at Center-Ring and in close.

{1:12} > Ray tries with a 'left-right-left', but he has nothing on his punches.

{1:14} > The fighters 'clinch' again at Center-Ring.

{1:17 > Ray again tries with a 'left-left-right-left', but again his punches lack steam.

    {1:19} > Deuk-Koo comes back with a 'good' left-hand to Ray's head.

    {1:22} > Ray gets off with a 'left-right-left' to Deuk-Koo's head.

{1:25} > Again the fighters 'clinch'.

{1:27} > Dek-Koo looks to his right to corner for instructions while holding Ray in the 'clinch'.

{1:29} > Both fighters are visibly and expectedly 'fatigued'.

{1:30} > Referee - Richard Greene moves in to separate the fighters.

{1:33} > Ray lands with a 'light' double left-hook to the body.

    {1:34} > Deuk-Koo fires right back with a sharp 'left-right' to Ray's face.

{1:36} > Again the fighters 'clinch'.

{1:42} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "There is blood under the right-eye of Mancini."

    {1:44} > Deuk-Koo moves in close.

{1:45} > Ray catches Deuk-Koo coming in with a right-hook to the left side of his head.

    {1:47} > Deuk-Koo grabs Ray and 'clinches'.

{1:51} > Ray counters with a 'right-left' to the body.

{1:54} > Ray moves in to 'clinch'.

{1:56} > Deuk-Koo pushes Ray to the back-left Corner area.

{1:59} > Referee - Richard Greene moves in to separate the fighters.

    {2:05} > Deuk-Koo fires in a left-hand lead to Ray's chin.

    {2:06} > Deuk-Koo 'stumbles' past Ray.

{2:07} > Deuk-Koo grabs Ray by the waist.

{2:10} > Referee - Richard Greene moves in to separate the fighters.

{2:14} > Deuk-Koo is pressing, and is taking the fight to Ray by firing in a 'right-left'.

{2:14} > Ray keeps his hands high, and blocks both punches.

    {2:18} > Deuk-Koo digs in with a good left-hand to the body.

{2:19} > Ray is holding again.

{2:21} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} >"Deuk-Koo is strong and game. But, Mancini just looks like the fresher of the two."

{2:25} > Ray tries with a 'triple left-jab' and straight right-hand, but all '4' punches come up short.

    {2:27} > Deuk-Koo backs up to the right-side Ropes.

{2:31} > Ray moves in close, and works on the inside.

{2:38} > Both fighters are now 'mauling' each other.

    Ray Mancini vs. Deuk-Koo Kim

In the corner, between Rounds 12 and 13

Deuk-Koo looked somewhat fatigued {which was understandable with this grueling slugfest}, but he was not breathing
    heavy and looked under control.

There was no panic in his corner, as his handler {Trainer; Yoon-Gu Kim} talked to Deuk-Koo and gave him instructions,
as he wiped down his fighter and rubbed his head.

Deuk-Koo Kim did have 'bad bruise' and swollen area under his left-eye {cheek}, and a bruise swelling on the left side
    of his head {temple area}.

Interesting here, is that at no time did Deuk-Koo's handlers put ice on their fighter, especially the swollen area on the
    sides of his head.

Before the start of Round 13

Gil Clancy {CBS Commentator} > "They took 1-Point away from Kim in Round 10. For hitting after the Bell."

    > Note: It was because Deuk-Koo hit Ray on the top of the head with a punch during a clinch at the {0:31 Mark}. Not a 'late hit'.

Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "OK then, that could be 'critical' on what we see as a close fight. On our Scorecard, we have given
    Mancini the last 3-Rounds {10, 11 and 12}."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Round 13

{Bell} > Ray bolts from his Corner, and literally runs out to Center-Ring to meet Deuk-Koo.

{0:02} > Ray catches Deuk-Koo with a big straight 'right-hand' to the forehead, and Deuk-Koo looks shaken.

    {0:03} > Ray adds in a left-hook the chin.

{0:04} > Ray comes back quickly with a '5-Punch' combination, and Deuk-Koo backs up to the left-side Ring area.

{0:06} > Deuk-Koo is trying to avoid the onslaught by bending low.

    {0:07} > Dek-Koo is now on the left-side Ropes.

{0:08} > Ray starts to unload a 'torrid barrage' of punches.

{0:12} > Deuk-Koo moves to his right to the front Ropes.

{0:14} > Deuk-Koo tries to grab Ray, but cannot get a hold of him.

{0:15} > Deuk-Koo reels backwards towards the right-side Ring area.

    {0:16} > Deuk-Koo backs into the front-right Corner.

{0:17} > Ray continues with a 'wild barrage' of punches.

{0:17} > Deuk-Koo bounces out off of the Ring corner-post.

{0:18} > Deuk-Koo moves forward, out and away from the corner Area, as Ray still fires away.

    {0:21} > Deuk-Koo moves out to Center-Ring.

{0:23} > All told, Ray Mancini 'unleashed' 33-Straight punches on Deuk-Koo, including '6' solid right-hands to the head
    in just 23-Seconds.

    {0:24} > Ray continues, and slams in a 'right-left-right-left' to Deuk-Koo's head at Center-Ring.

{0:26} > Ray is still going, and fires in a 'right-left'.

{0:28} > Deuk-Koo finally 'grabs' Ray and clinches. But Ray 'spins' Deuk-Koo {180*}, towards the front Ropes.

{0:31} > Deuk-Koo backs up to the front Roopes as Ray moves in.

    {0:34} > Ray 'winds up', and delivers a right-hook to Deuk-Koo's head.

{0:35} > Ray comes back with a 'vicious' left-hook underneath and into Deuk-Koo's body.

    {0:36} > Deuk-Koo moves forward.

{0:37} > Ray slams in a 'right-left' as Deuk-Koo is moving in on him.

{0:37} > Deuk-Koo has his 'hands up' and blocks both punches.

{0:39} > Rays comes back with another 'right-left'.

    {0:40} > Ray 'misses' with a big right uppercut/hook.

{0:40} > Ray has his mouth 'wide open', as he is sucking for air.

{0:41} > Ray adds in a left-hook to the body.

{0:43} > Ray moves in close to tie up Deuk-Koo.

{0:44} > Amazingly, it is Deuk-Koo who shows strength, and heaves {pushes} Ray off of him at Center-Ring.

{0:46} > Deuk-Koo has his 'hands up', and looks clear headed.

{0:48} > Ray moves in close.

{0:51} > Ray tosses in a 'light' right-left to the body.

{0:54} > Ray tries to grab Deuk-Koo and hold.

{0:56} > Again, Deuk-Koo pushes Ray off of him.

    {0:57} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "The crowd is on it's feet."

{0:58} > Ray again moves in close, and tries with 'light' right-left.

    {0:59} > The fighters 'clinch' at Center-Ring.

{1:00} > Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "Mancini is trying to put away his Challenger."

{1:02} > Again, Deuk-Koo pushes Ray off of him.

{1:04} > Deuk-Koo 'amazingly' is bouncing on his toes, and is looking fresh.

    {1:06} > Deuk-Koo steps in, and lands a solid left-head lead on Ray's head. {It is Deuk-Koo's '1st' punch that he has thrown in the 13th Round.}

    {1:07} > Deuk-Koo follows up with a sharp 'right-left' to the body.

Tim Ryan {CBS Announcer} > "OK then, that could be 'critical' on what we see as a close fight. On our Scorecard, we have given
    Mancini the last 3-Rounds {10, 11 and 12}."

    Round 13

{Bell} > Ray bolts from his Corner, and literally runs out to Center-Ring to meet Deuk-Koo.

{0:17} > Ray continues with a 'wild barrage' of punches.

{0:24} > Deuk-Koo moves forward, and out and away from the corner Area, as Ray still fires away.

    {0:27} > Deuk-Koo moves out to Center-Ring.

{0:28} > All told, Ray Mancini 'unleashed' 33-Straight punches on Deuk-Koo, including '6' solid right-hands to the head.
Clearly, Referee - Richard Greene could have issued a 'Standing 8-Count' during the onslaught.

    ~ Fact ~

Ray Mancini unleashed '47-Straight' punches on Deuk-Koo Kim at the beginning of Round 13,
    without a single return punch.
