Rommel was actually involved in the Valkerye assassination attempt against Hitler. He was injured and in the hospital when the shit went down so he didn't get involved. This led to him being forced to commit suicide. Still, he knew what Hitler was up to early on, he's still accountable. Fortunately Hitler didn't listen to Rommel on D day. If Rommel had unleashed his Panzers on Omaha beach we, the Americans may very well have been repelled.

Doesn't excuse toto's thorough analysis of the outcome of the fight. Still, Rommel was respected by his Allied adversaries and one of the gentleman Prussian generals of that war. And I still think corvette is more of a racist than he is.
