    Default Was it historic?

it was historic in terms of a business deal and only for that reason.

I cant even give props to him. He ran and hugged pac all night. I see no champion and a fight of the century in that.

The hugging on the inside was a bit overdone. Floyd was on his bike but those things considered he once again displayed his greatness in defense. Manny just didn't have it.

Hindsight being 20/20...it feels like a patched together affair after the expiration date. One of the biggest *asterisk fights I can remember and we said that going in.

They both showed up and put their bodies in the ring. That about it. What really happened is they both respected each other too much. They both over thought the whole fight plan. They got in the ring and both were afraid to make mistakes. It the a clossial fuckup on both sides and the fight was a total dud. We only saw flashes of what both fighters are capable of. This is kind of happened to sugar ray lenord when he fought duran the first time. The hype was too much and these two are full of themselves. Not sure how history will paint the picture.

Yes it was historic fight as far as money goes. Every big PPV fight will be compared to this fight and probably fall short until boxing really takes hold in China.
It was historic because it finally answered a question which many fight fans wanted answered, I know I did. A few years late, but still answered satisfactorily for me.
Most exciting or best fight? No, but I was into it. I'm glad the fight was made and glad I was able to see it. The fight aroused a lot of interest in boxing, and the card was one that most parents wouldn't mind their children seeing. No blood, not too brutal, and good sportsmanship displayed which might allow some new fans to be drawn in.

Indeed. I almost feel violated. Historical con job in a way. All the glove touching had me wincing. Not as bad as the Mosley fight but damn. Manny landed one nice left the entire night and ironically it appeared to be a counter shot. That was the biggest surprise of the night, Floyd getting caught by that punch. Manny looked like his tank was empty from the start. How much of that was Floyd or something else is anyone's guess.
