Vitali did retire Lennox though and he was not keen on the rematch.

Prime Vitali would destroy every heavyweight today.

Lennox is best by the proverbial mile....
Lennox took on Vitali, his #1 contender on a week or so's notice putting his title on the line when barely 80% ready Lennox was prepared for a warm up against Kirk Johnson who they knew had not been training properly. Vitali was fighting fo0r a title shot & was 100 %ready. Result.... LEWIS TKO 6
Lennox beat Vitali when overweight & undertrained what was the incentive to rematch??
Lennox might have stayed had Wlad shown any interest I fighting but Wlad was nowhere to be found ROFLMAO
Lennox retired at exactly the right time The only man who could have given him any competition, Ike Ibeabuchi was other wise engaged thanks to a lying hooker.
Lennox beat every man he ever faced in the pro ring he has nothing left to prove

Lewis. He did beat him after all. I realize that's a bit simple but it did actually happen

CJ Rock you need to post more on here. You talk good sense.

    Not durable enough? Just....wow hahaha

Separately, Lennox was better but Vitali had him if not for the cut. Lennox could barely stand to celebrate. And he did not retire right away, he could have rematched. He stayed looking for other fights that did not materialize. He didn't want to fight Vitali again. That's his choice but if he had retired right away nobody could question his choice not to rematch, since he stayed looking for fights the choice not to rematch should be questioned.

It's like saying Vitali would have had him if Lewis wasn't allowed to punch back but in that fight Vitali could not absorb Lewis' punches without suffering fight ending injuries. He couldn't survive and that's the end if it. If he had better skin he wouldn't
get cut and equally if Khan had a better chin he wouldn't keep he getting knocked out & if Lomachenko was 6 stone heavier he'd be a heavyweight etc etc.

    If floyd never had defense.
If JC never had fast hands.

There is no lucky punch in boxing.

Boxing is throwing punches you mean to throw..all the time.

    Unless your Tyson fury.
