The OP said specifically from 1980 on so duran is low because his lightweight reign was before that.

I thought staying in shape and being an athlete was a big part of boxing?

So a guy who doesn't have the discipline to stay in shape can go up and quit during a super fight because of a tummy ache or get destroyed in 2 rounds and we're supposed to say "this guy is great, he wouldn't have lost those if he was in shape and fighting at his best weight". The fuck is that shit?

Beast mostly nobodies at LW, got outboxed an embarrassed on multiple occasions, VASTLY overrated.

    These lists are sooo subjective.
IMO Trinidad had a better career and resume than DLH.
But he's not the crossover star DLH was, so he gets bumped.

Three losses his entire career, all to ATG's.....
He bumps a few people off that list, IMO.

Yeah, but the fat ugly brit managed to stay in 2 weight classes his whole career.

He was a great fighter but of course he got steamrolled by Floyd because a great Brit isn't going to beat a great American.

I've always thought that tito was overrated. He was good at what he did but had a major flaw against people who could box. And de la hoya easily beat him.

What's your hate with duran? He beat some solid fighters and lightweight and beat some good fighters at higher weights. You need to realize that most of his losses were way past his prime and way above his original weight. A fighter like duran usually has tons of problems going up in weight because their power doesn't carry. It's usually easier for lighter hitters to go up because they don't rely on power. Duran still did well at higher weights and fought fighters at those weights were way better than anyone Floyd fought.

I don't see mayweather beating Leonard, hearns, or hagler. I think he has tons of trouble with Benitez too. Also, Floyd couldn't last like duran did. Floyd isn't very durable and is fortunate boxing during a time when he could fight twice a year. His hands probably wouldn't hold up otherwise. This isn't a bashing mayweather post because I think that he is a great fighter but I just think that duran is better.

Top as in made the covers, sold the ppv and made millions? Or top as in a boxing fool who treated the ring like the study at home? A few did both, good list. Maybe I'm biased with favorites but with respect I'd bump Foreman, Mosley, Calzaghe, Wright, Duran and include JMM, Lopez, McCallum, Canizales and a Toney. Though frankly with Toney I preference everything now with "if".

He lost all of 3 fights his entire career.

BHop - One of the best MW's of all time, who had been a middleweight his entire 13-year career to that point, with only a previous UD loss to RJJ marring his record. Future first-ballot HOF'er.

Winky Wright - One of the best defensive fighters of his era and another future HOF'er.

RJJ - An ATG and first-ballot HOF'er. This fight was at 170-lb, I believe, and Trinidad had no business going up that high. That didn't deter him, though. It was Trinidad's last fight.

Against people who could box? Oba Carr could box, but nobody gives him credit for it, since he lost to Trinidad.

The win over DLH was controversial, but DLH threw the fight away in the last 3-4 rounds while running all over the ring. He says he thought he had the fight won.... some of us say he had tasted some of Trinidad's leather and was in no mood to trade blows late in the fight. Regardless, the decision went against him in Las Vegas, supposed homefield advantage for DLH.

He polished off five undefeated fighters (Campas, Carr, DLH, Reid, Vargas).... three of them before DLH got up enough nerve to face those same damaged opponents. Overrated?? Kind of difficult to consider a 42-3-0 (35 KO's) fighter overrated, unless he faced a lineup of bums, which seems to be the norm for some fighters nowadays. No..... I respect your opinion, but I'll hold onto mine. Trinidad's resume is above DLH's any day of the week.

Get fat hand picking George Foreman out of that list. Have some shame.
