He is the greatest ever and to win the fight would only cement it.
A flawless welterweight becoming undisputed light heavy champ would be amazing.
The ref had to be substituted says how hot it must have been.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

"The Hottest Day Ever in New York City"
103* at Fight Time {9:00 PM} at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York.
New York was going thru a brutal 'hot-and-soggy' heat spell that week.
It never cooled down during the Fight, and the Temperature in the Ring {under the lights}
actually went up to 108*.

Well there was one guy in the ring that night that the heat didn't stop...

The fact that Welterweights never do that would have made it a unique achievement, but Haye beat Valuev giving up way more weight than that![]()
Joey Maxim
One tough S.O.B.
An extremely smart and cagey boxer. Once he realized he couldn't outbox the flashy
Sugar Ray, he set the 'trap'.
The original 'Bait-and-Switch' tactic.

"Was it the heat. Or did Joey Maxim truly undress Sugar Ray."
