The fact that Welterweights never do that would have made it a unique achievement, but Haye beat Valuev giving up way more weight than that

    Joey Maxim

    One tough S.O.B.

An extremely smart and cagey boxer. Once he realized he couldn't outbox the flashy
Sugar Ray, he set the 'trap'.

    The original 'Bait-and-Switch' tactic.

That is different and you know it.

A miscalculation by the 'Sugar Ray Robinson Camp'.

    Fun Filled Fact #104 >

The average 'high-temperature' for New York City in late-June was 78*.

The median temperature for 10:00 PM {night} was 67*. > Scheduled start time of the bout.

The Sugar Ray Robinson Camp had an opportunity to 'add' in a provision in the Fight Contract,
stipulating that if the Temperature Level was more than 5* above the average 'high-temperature'
3-Days before the bout {and/or estimated Temperature}, they could have postponed the bout to a
    to a later date.

    {Original Date of the bout was scheduled for > Tuesday ~ June 23, 1952}

    'That is a Fact'

    Joey Maxim

Did nothing great, but did everything good.

Incredibly durable, and what was described as 'Super Human Stamina'.

The man never got tired or worn down.

    Thursday ~ June 25, 1952

    Joey Maxim
    Age ............ 30 years, 3 months
    Height ........ 6' 1"
    Reach.......... 71 1/2"
    Weight ....... 173 lbs.
    Record ....... 77-18-4 {20 KO's}

    Stance ....... Orthodox
    Style .......... Boxer/Counter-Puncher

Joey walked into the Ring against Sugar Ray Robinson at { 178 lbs.}, after the weigh-in.

Joey was initially a {13-10} Betting-Favorite. But the 'odds' eventually dropped, and
swung to 'favor' Sugar Ray Robinson.

    Fight Plan >
To pressure Robinson, by moving straight in and making him work. The 'plan', to force
Sugar Ray to work hard over the first 2/3's {10 Rounds} of the bout.

    Let Robinson out-work himself.

Then work over Robinson's body late, to take away his legs. Then fire in calculated
left-hooks to the body, to force Robinson's hands to lower.

Then with Robinson's hands lower {late in the bout}, swing with power left-hooks to
    the head.

    Do Not >
Get into a boxing-match with Robinson early.

Try to match Robinson in the left-jab department.

    Chase Robinson with a fast-pace.
